That is such a pretty color! Is the plant blooming now or did you take the picture earlier?

The last blooms I had were in October. I grow 2 of these & this was the first bloom for this plant, the other bloomed in late spring/early summer. So it will be interesting to see what they will do this year with more maturity.

Thank you for posting these pictures. It makes me want all the Thunbergia species! LOL Does T. togoensis root easily from cuttings? (hint hint LOL)

LOL, yes Joseph, I got the hint. They do root but are slow like the other thunbergias. I have a couple in a cup on my window sill that have been there for months and are just starting to root. Hopefully my 2 original plants will survive this cold weather & I will not need the cuttings as replacements. I will let you know.

Thunbergia will root in water easily? cool...how thick do the stems have to be for optimal rooting? I have a T. fragrans plant I would like to propagate in a big way.

I do all 3 of my T's 2 different ways with near perfect results. I either put cuttings in water & just change it every couple of days, or put in damp vermiculite and cover with a bag. The key is to not give up on them. They take at least 8 weeks to root for me. I had 3 in the water & 1 rooted in a couple of months, but the other 2 did not, all the leaves fell off & it was to a point that you would normally toss them. But I left them in & now they are getting a few roots & new leaves after about 4 months. So patience pays off. LOL

Do you root new growth stems, or somewhat older plant material? Which gives better success? So many questions...so sorry but I love learning about this stuff.

Hi Joseph,
I am the same way. If it was not for the slow leak , I am sure my head would explode from all the stuff I learn. hehehehe
As for what I start, on the vine T's I just use whatever I have trimmed off, because they are monsters that would swallow the house & require weekly trimming. So I guess you could say it is new growth. On the Togo, it is a stiff branched little bush and I just cut off the ends of the branches, about 6 inchs.
