Is there any nicer plant than the picotee tuberous begonias from Antonelli's Begonias ?

This is one of the most beautiful flowers that I have ever seen. I think I am in love. I will definitely check out getting some of these.

I am so jealous. I have never had luck raising them but once. I think it is so rainy here that they rot. I even had one in a hanging basket under the eaves and it still rotted. Any suggestions?

If you have a lot of rain, use a very well draining mix (container planting mix, rather than regular potting soil) in a tall pot. Dont layer the mix with something else at the bottom, just use the container mix for the entire port. The tuber is in the top 2-3 inches of soil and will send down roots about 3-5 inches below it. Frequent waterings is what they prefer, especially in summer.

One other thing I have found to work nicely, is starting them indoors to get them established before moving them outdoors. Before they sprout, they are a bit sensitive to cold soil.

Beautiful bloom and photo. I must try some more tuberous beg. now that my trees are getting larger and i have some shade. Had lovely ones at my other place 10 years ago. Donna

I'm not a Begonia grower, but if I were.......... that one would be the first one I'd buy. Lovely!! Great photo of it too!

Yeah ! I love talking photos of plants (unlike people, they don't move and they don't complain when you ask them to smile for the 10th time)

That is an absolutely gorgeous tuberous begonia. They are a regular in my shade garden every year. Excellent photo too.

Sorry, kd, but the answer could be yes. Hundreds of Begonias from Antonelli's.
I may go this afternoon, as they have "starters" early in the year for less than 50¢. Wonderful photo of the picotee.

Didn't Antonelli's burn down last year? I looked at their new web site and their selection wasn't what I would call large. Take a look and tell me how it compares to your memory.

Yes, they had a big fire last March. They only sell the tuberous ones now, a shame since I had wanted to get more after buying several canes the year before.

Oh I just realized this thread is over a year old!
