I didn't save seeds this year, but I'll bet I'll have lots of little seedlings coming up in my alpine strawberry patch this spring! So far, I've only ventured to trade seeds, so I'd have to figure out how to package seedlings, but let me know if you don't find seeds. They really are delicious -- little morsels that taste like distilled essence of strawberry, or maybe like strawberry candy.

A note about germination -- the seeds need cold treatment. I followed Territorial's instructions and put the seed packet in the freezer for 2 weeks with good success. The next year, I tried the same thing with yellow alpine strawberry seed and got low germination rates, so YMMV. Some people have recently told me I should put seeds in damp sand or damp perlite for cold stratification, so maybe that would've worked with the yellow ones.

I only had a couple of the yellow alpine plants survive the summer, and I don't think they really fruited, so I can't report on their taste compared to the red ones. I may try growing them again, though, as Pinetree Seeds (my source for them) claims birds won't see/eat them.
