With the wild fluctuations in temperatures in Texas (yesterday 70, tonight it will freeze!), I've been afraid to plant my tulip bulbs. I've never grown them before, so I'm a little nervous! The daffies in the yard are already sprouting! So, when should I put the tulips in the ground? Usually last chance of frost is in March.
When to plant?
You can plant Tuips any time.....the frost will not bother them........they can withstand the frost.
It's the warmer weather I'm worried about.
The longer you wait the less chance there is for the tulips to get some cold and be able to grow taller.....If you miss this cold spell, your tulips may flower just above ground.
I didn't properly explain myself...the bulbs are in the refrigerator now, have been for a few months. Is it ok to take them out & put them in the ground now? It may be 70 again in a few days! I don't know if this will cause them to sprout too early.
