Elephat Ear, Taro (Alocasia cuprea)
What a great picture, Ric! It looks like a bronze cast of a trilobite or something. Thanks for sharing it.
LOL!
That's EXACTLY what I told my partner as soon as I downloaded the shot from the camera.
Great minds.........................
That's right, great minds! LOL!
anyone know what the required growing conditions are for this plant?
greyyhawkk,
Bright light. High temps. High humidity.
NO Direct Sun.
I have mine growing in a Vivarium.
I'll move it outside to full shade in mid Summer.
Ric
This is beautiful. What is a Vivarium? Don't laugh at me but I have never heard of it before.
A Vivarium is a Terrarium w/ running water.
Usually set up for small amphibians or reptiles.
Here's some shots of the best of.......... none of them mine....lol

Maybe my plants will live if do one of those! lol. I think my plants hate me sometimes. lol Great pic of elephant ear. Looks like it belongs in a gallery.
Alocasia are funny.
Some you can't kill w/ a flame-thrower others are extremely picky.
Read all you can on the species you chose and see if you can duplicate it's original habitat.
That REALLY gives you a leg up on growing them (well most plants actually).
Ric
The only thing that i can't kill so far are irises. Stubborn things they are!! lol
