White Monster Brug seed pod question that DonnaB gave to me

Harlem, GA(Zone 8a)

I have a pod that is about 5 inches long, and its been on there since June of last year....my question is, does anyone know if this type Sauvaleans (sp?) Brug pod gets mushy or is it just some other types. I can feel the seeds and see little lumps from the outside of it. It's not soft but I can also hear the if I squeeze it. lol...Any help would be great. Thanks
Julie

P.S. This one was given to me by DonnaB at the GARU

If I recall Donna's brug correctly, it looked like a suaveolens to me! I really should go back and look at it again to make sure but I am too lazy.

IT MUST BE RIPE!!!!!! It should only take 3 or 4 months if it went over the hot summer. If the 3 or 4 months goes into the winter, it may take till the weather warms up again.

So I say yours should be rotted by now!!!! I would love to see a picture of it. If the seeds are loose, that means it is ripe to me. Rosamond seeds get loose when ripe.

Take a very clean razor and cut a flap in the pod. If the seeds are still white, use crazy glue and glue it back on! But I would find it hard to believe there are not already 3 ft brugs in there.

LOL If there's 3 ft. Brugs in there, please take a picture.

Julie I never had one get ripe before winter. Even with them being started in summer. It is a suaveloens so go with what Kell says

Donna, if you know it takes so many months to get ripe, then I say go with you!!! LOL. 8 months though for a non sang is a long time esp if it had months of warm and sunny! However, you know the brug and I do not! How long do they usually take?? I would definitely go with your experience with the brug esp if it is still green and firm !!! One thing I have learned is that there are no hard and fast rules in brug growing much less in life!!

The pod size in my yard, does not mean anything. So being 5 inches does not tell much. I have pods on my Sexy Lady that got ripe at just 3 inches and some were 7 inches! It has been my experience that it is more of a time and environmental thing, not a size thing.

Is the peduncle green and healthy looking? Or is it getting a bit yellow and sallow looking? All my non sang pods showed signs it was time. I will say some looked not ripe right up till the day they suddenly split open. That was the most obvious sign. LOL

Oh I'm glad you saw this DonnaB. Thanks for your advice, you and Kell's.

The peduncle is not green, it's tannish of color not sure what 'sallow' means lol! It's fat though. I think I'll check it out anyhow. Maybe on tomorrow would be better as today will be another busy day for me. I was with my mother & sister yesterday and left my camera and coat there or I'd take a pic of it. It's probably ready.

Thank you for your input. That's a load of information that I will take into consideration and store into my brain! When it wakes up! lolol

the seeds aren't big and I did peel one and got a seed from it. They are drying so I've planted a few to see if they take, but they definetely are not rotten lol kell
