Well, poop. I have a halogen desk lamp on a balance arm, and it tends to walk a little, I guess from vibration of the keyboard during the day. I just happened to notice the top corner of my monitor is melted, apparently from the lamp getting too close. It could have started a fire because I always go off and leave it on, like while cooking dinner.
I knew these lamps get hot but hadn't realized it got that close to my monitor. So beware if you also have one!
