Looking for sun loving periennials, fruit plants or tropical fruit trees that will grow in Florida zone 9,

Would you be interested in tall bearded iris? I have some that I belive are Rose Garland 1954, as close as I can identify the colors in the plant database. They are very hardy, sun-loving, low maintenance periennials here in Georgia. I think I have seen the bird of paradise growing this far north. Perhaps if I kept them in a large pot and brought them indoors before any freezing temps?
