CALIFORNIA DREAMIN'

Spokane, WA(Zone 5b)

but in our own place? Anyone already thinking about where they are going to place the plants they are going to seed this spring?

My mind is already on the go...... I ordered some saddle bags from Veseys, for my front porch - plan on mixing that with Cannas, Brugs Nicotanias (sp?) and wave petunias; all in pots.

I envision something beautiful. I know it never works out the way you see it in your head, but I'm looking forward to trying it!

I've been sent so many nice seeds to help me make this gorgeous porch that spreads along the front length of the house - and I can't wait to be out there on a warm day soaking up the warm air and scents.

I have a very good feeling next year is going to be a good year!

What all do you have planned?

Center, TX(Zone 8b)

Well to start off...I'm obsessive compulsive....I have already started germinating some of my seeds and keeping a numbered list of them. I drew my yard out on a poster board and I'm putting the numbers of the seeds germinated on the poster board where they will be planted. Forget warm days I'll probably start this afternoon cleaning out my flower beds from all the leaves and stuff. Can't plant but have about 20 beds that need to be cleaned and thanks to all the great people here at DG I plan on making my beds bigger. My husbands says I can't make any new beds cause it takes him about 3 hours to weed eat the yard but he didn't say anything about making the ones I have bigger. LOL I can't wait until spring!!!

I walked around today and tried to remember just where all the plants are, now that most of them are sleeping peacefully. I make lots of plans in my head, but my tired old body just don't seem to want to go along with them. I am just hoping to be well enough to be outside when spring gets here and take each day as it comes.

Hummmm, I have a relativly new yard, as we built 4 years ago & getting the beds & ponds & trees & shrubs ..... where we would like them has been a challenge. Most of the flower beds are bordered with rock, but not full of flowers yet, the veggie garden has been fenced & planted the last 3 years, but we have no lawns or permante water systems yet. This is this years projects as well as a new larger green house.
I have agreed to be on the Garden Tour this spring, so you can bet I'll be spending extra hours in my garden getting things finished up. Yikes!
I have lots of ideas as I think in my sleep as well as awake, & always about gardening. I'm getting my Koi pond finished up, there has been a hole in the yard just waiting for a liner, for 3 years. I have gotten many seeds from swaps & generous DGers so I'll be starting new plnats in my Green Hut when the time is right. Right now it is full of Brugs, & I mean FULL! So with any luck & a lot of work it should be all purdy & in order for the Garden Tour.

You guys are driving me crazy...I just want to go outside and start digging, frozen ground or not. Spent two hours at Walmart reading the garden magazines and then put them back on the shelf.
Before I left I bought two annual polka dot plants.
In the magazine I saw Terra-cotta pots with painted polka dots. Pink and a darker pink , the background painted white. These were so cute!! Great for my porch. Things I want to do but always worry about time.
As soon as Spring comes I get a outburst of energy and I usually lose15 pounds. I start digging, raking and cleaning up the winter mess, twigs etc. I can't wait until I feel the warm sun and feel the fresh breeze. I love my sun tea with lime. I am dreaming of pulling those weeds and laying fresh mulch. Dreaming of seeing my babies pushing through the soil.

my garden looks like a good spot for mud wrestling........ pray for sunshine.....

Mine looks much like sherans. I dug up all my cactus, succulents and agaves because they were floating in what looked like a river. Several rotted. I am so sad. We are flooding bad here in Mo Valley. Pray that the rain stops or slows down to a drizzle.

Spokane, WA(Zone 5b)

YES! Please pray that rain stops before I travel down there in February! I want some sunshine and warmth!

i cant even get to my garden... and now the bedroom celing is going plop, plop

ahhhhhhh

Oh geez, Sheran - I just read an article on MSN about the weather down there - It mostly mentioned Southern California - 9 people dead. It sounds like it's all over the coast! Even up here we are getting massively dumped on with snow - with no end of sight yet. I don't mind the snow too much, but I am certainly looking forward to Spring.

I went to NW Seed & Pet yesterday and purchased some Silver Tidal Wave petunia seeds - part of my dreamin' that I'm doing for next season.

Oh Sheran and Gourd, I am so sorry you are losing stuff to the flooding. There is crazy weather everywhere this year it seems.
God Bless you both and all your neighbors.

My DH told me that big earthquakes, tidal waves, etc.... can cause very odd weather globally. I can't help but wonder if that is what is going on here. We're getting it in a colder version up here. Brrrrrrrrrrrrr and lotza snow.

San Jose, CA

My garden is drenched too, but I really feel for the gardeners in southern california. Your garden plants just aren't expecting that kind of deluge! I hope everything and everyone pulls through down there.
