Went out to the greenhouse tonight and was hit at the door with a strong sweet smell. The only one blooming is JTs seedling that i posted pics of.
The 2nd flush of blooms has started and they are turning out to be a much deeper gold/orange color...i know that doesnt make sense, lol.
How does one go about trialing it. JT said to go ahead and name it, but doesnt it have to be trialed first?
Thanks
Jen

very pretty Jen. Probably darker since our weather has been warm. My GH is staying 80 in the daytime with both doors wide open.

Very nice Jen

While many brug have a darker color in warm weather, some of mine are actually darker in colder weather. For example my Butterfly gets very dark in cold weather . . . darker than it is in the summer heat. Cold weather for me is 40 degrees at night and 50-60 during the day.

MsJen-very pretty. Isn't it nice to get such a wonderful surprise in the winter.

Kannapolis, NC(Zone 7b)

Very pretty, Jen. The blooms look so good in the dreary winter.

Here is what I would do. First, I would wait until it has bloomed another season before using a name for it that will forever be gone in case you dump the brug. Next summer I would look at it and say to myself....does it have the color, tendrils, staying power, fragrance, and ability to handle heat, wind, and bugs. If it can pass most of that I would then or even now, look at all brugs that have been born and are named and see if there is anything that it closely resembles. If there is nothing that appears to look like it and if you still want to name it after summer bloom, then would be the time to give it a permanent name. Some people name their brugs with a working name and later it will be the registered name if it sticks. Just remember that if you send out cuttings with names on them, more than likely the name will stick and you won't be able to use it on any other brug if you choose not to register the first named one. That will be because you already sent out cuttings with the name on it. I hope this is making sense. If you like the brug and want to keep it for yourself and not send out cuttings, I'm sure you could call it whatever you want and at a later date feel free to re-use the name. With so many new brugs being born each year, the name bank is going to become depleted before long. Just my opinion.

Brugie,
Thanks for the info, thats kinda what i needed to hear. It'll just stay here until after summer. I have no intentions of naming it tomorrow. I agree that there are too many look alikes. The first 2 flushes were totally different, and its going to be interesting to see what the next ones will be.
I like the yellows, so of course i was thrilled by the color. The smell is divine, but the trendils are stubby.
It looks like i may be getting a few more seedlings to bloom within the next week or so. Pretty exciting time around here.

Congrats MSJen, we are all so excited for you! Beautiful bloom, too.

Its JT's seedling, i just grew it out.

Very nice! Plus, the color may deepen & intensify as the weather gets warmer. See how it grows throughout the year.

"MsJen1", "MsJen2", "MsJen3" have a nice sound to them! :~)
