Pond Lily Cactus (Disocactus phyllanthoides)
Would you let me know where you found this plant to purchase? I have been looking for one for quite awhile. Do you have a start I may buy or trade for if you don't remember where you found yours?
Thank you!

I bought it at a local farm and garden and it has been sick ever since. I have tried cuttings and they are sick as well. So sorry I can't help. If it ever gets better, there are many many people ahead of you who have asked over the years. There is an online place you can buy a cutting though it's expensive. http://www.ecology.org/orchids/index5.html
Beautiful ! Gosh yours is looking good for it being sick ! Is it the type of plant that gets sick easy ? Will it root easy. $30.00 would be worth it as long as it does not die.
I have Night Blooming Cerus Queen of the Night plant I notice they sell cuttings of this plant . It roots like a weed.
If your plant is as easy to grow as mine I want one :))
Do the flowers smell and do they last a long time ?
Very pretty, Boojum. So sad it is sick.
It bloomed madly for me when I brought it home (that's when I took lots of pics) and went down hill immediately after blooming. Maybe it was exhausted. Then it got scale and spidermites, so I made a cutting which also looks sick. So I have no sense of it's hardiness. A few people I've talked to have mentioned making cuttings just in case for this epi, so that makes me think it's not easy to grow even when it's healthy. If it were easy we'd find them everywhere! BTW, no scent that I remember, but it was at least 2 years ago.
I didn't realize epis types got spider mites. I HATE spider mites.
When they are not well they can catch everything! I now use a mix of Neem, horticultural oil and H2O successfully. But they can still reappear.
I just realized that I never responded back to thank you for the link to find this beautiful plant! I think I found another source for this plant-glasshouse works-but they call it pink empress, rather than german empress. It is also A LOT less expensive for a start of this plant. On their website look under succulents, then click on epiphyllums and it is there.
Thank you again for getting back with me so quickly and I apologize for not responding to the response until now.
Daisymoon, no problem and thanks for the resource!!
I am woundering if you are confusing the scale upon the leaves of this plant with sickness. This species of Epiphyllum is spineless with closed, Soft pink flowers It has flattened two sided blade like stems. It has scale upon the leaves much like E Creriabum an is common to this plant. Large plants need to be grown in a hanging basket. The foliage will initially stick up untill the weight of the flowers bring it down. it is very common in columbia where the flowers are taken as a cardiac tonic. The species only makes medium sized flowers but as you all can see it makes dozens and dozens of them. i hope this helps
