Rick Mercer 'Talking to Americans' is on again tonight, CTV I think. I don't know if it is a new one or repeat.Joelle
funny tv show
I've seen some of the previews, he really is hilarious.
Me too. Gonna have to watch.
I love that show too....but at a certain point each episode, about mid-way, I start getting the uneasy feeling that the joke's actually on us - because we are highlighting how little those particular Americans care what goes on in Canada.
So, who watched last night, and what did you think? My opinion? I thought Rick was excellent at keeping a straight face as he asked those dumb questions. I could hardly believe that Murricans know THAT little about Canada. But then again, I think if you get right down to it, perhaps it''s just that they really have very little interest in Canada. Other opinions?.
Hey, if any of our 'murrican friends are eavesdropping, present company excepted! It's just a national pastime of ours, given the lopsidedness of N. American media coverage, to ask you guys funny questions about our country from time to time...lol We'll get over it eventually :-)
Oops, I just happened to stop in at the Dave's Garden Forum, and was unaware that "current events" discussion is not allowed on Dave's Garden. I didn't know that, so I guess we''ll have to shut this thread down and end by saying the we all have to take program last night "for what it was worth"!
Current Events not allowed. Dream on. The day that Rick Mercer hosts Current Event s!!!! I thought it was just hilarious.
University students - couldn't believe them. All in all, wish I had a VCR to tape it. To send to my siblings who have lived in US for far too long.

Did he actually go back and ask new people this time, or was this a repeat? I've seen the same silly answers at least three times now.
Ginny, you rebel you! Dave made it explicidly clear that "Gardening subjects only", be discussed. But, I quess this is not the first time for us, is it? LOL Ginny did it! Ginny did it! Ginny made me do it, Sir!!!
Not just the students, what about the professors? That blew me away. I can't imagine they would be happy being made fools of that way. Oh well, like I said yesterday, they all probably shrug their shoulders and say "No Big Deal.."
It was a repeat, Shannon. The years mentioned or shown were 2000 and 2002, that I saw.
I agree with Ginny, though. Rick Mercer was hilarious. It takes a pro to be able to try and fool someone with such a straight face. Although he did nearly lose it a couple times.
My favourite is when he's asking an adult about the "states" in Canada, and the little kid says "hang on, Canada has provinces!" ROTFLOL
Yeah, at least that little kid knows something about us. Maybe there is a little Canadian content in their school studies. It's encouraging!
