Newbie Seeds
I have 3 packets (15 seeds in each packet) for the first three people to post here and simultaneously e-mail me with their mailing address.
The rules are:
1. You must be an active member of Dave's Garden.
2. You must be new to brugs within the past year.
3. You haven't already won one of the other seed give-aways from someone else here.
I am sending these to you at my own expense. Happy New Year!!!
PS -- I'll check back tomorrow. Good night everyone :)

Hey Dee!!!! What a greatttttttttttttttttt idea, save some for us 'oldies...but goodies'! lol
Hmmm....Where are them newbees???....they'll wake up in the morning and this thread will be swamped lol....
8-)
I meet your requirements but with the previous emails I don't know if I am to be included. Jeanette
If the newbies are looking at the response in the right hand corner it shows 8. So why bother when there were only 3.
Why are these people that don't qualify even emailing?
Jeanette
She know's I'm not a newbee :-) Good luck Jeanette, looks to me like you may be the 3rd one to post! Email her lol
I did. But you see, she may know but others who would compete don't. My point.
Jeanette
Hello? Newbie calling...just can't get enough!!! I would love to grow out your seeds...and I promise:
To share cuttings of anything you see out of them that you like with you.
To share seeds and cuttings with others once I have something worth sharing.
DH just rolls his eyes as we walk the new road and I am saying "and a brug here, oh, and over there, and all along here....". He better get his palms in before I get those seeds sprouted!!!
Carol
I cannot figure out if the seeds are all gone but if not, Please include me, I qualify :)
Doris
Why in the world people 'other' than those eligible,
would post before all the bids are in and confuse the newbies that are eligible?
What a confusing mess !
IMO
Shoot -- I wish I had enough for all five of you! But I only have 3 packages... These were the first three people to post, and I believe they meet the criteria I required. I will get these in the mail to each of you as soon as the seeds are dry. May take a few days as its very humid here right now. These are the recipients - I hope they grow into something pretty for each of you :)

Carol and Doris -- I'll put you each at the top of my list when I have seeds again, okay?
Carol and Doris, I have two packs of Pink Beauty X ? seeds if you'd like to grow them. Just send me your address. Ada
Ada thank you, you have mail.
Doris
Ada, What a sweetie you are -- thank you so much!!!
Thank you, thank you, thank you, Gretchen. I'll do my best with them.
DigsG
I just pray that they produce something pretty for you!
Gretchen, I just went thru my seed box last night and found two packs of this cross. I thought I had given all of them away. Well, it worked out fine that I had had two packs.
Ada... that's amazing! Well, I sure do thank you...I was singing the blues when I saw these posts this morning. Did AlohaHoya get in touch with you? I'll be happy to cover the postage, as that was part of my deal. I'll get a couple of stamps in the mail to you tomorrow. Thank you again! You have a great evening!
Gretchen, don't worry about the postage. I'll carry it just to get someone to grow them. I haven't heard from Carol as of yet. Glad I could help.
I just opened a Pink Beauty pod yesterday, and am in the process of drying out the seeds. Pink Beauty x ?
I'll be happy to share with a few newbies who would like -- you will need to go to the ABADS site to find out how to propagate seeds if you don't know already.
I grew them in Buffalo 45 years ago and then they disappeared. Would love to start again. Live in FL so would be out all year. Neighbor has one and WOW, what a tree. Chef Nancy Lee
I have never grown Brugs and would love to . I'll take anyone's leftovers and would be glad to pay for them. Thank you..
Hilary
would gladly pay for anything. Just found out there were others than white and peach! How new is that? Ruth
Seeds are in the mail to:
Digs
Donna
Jeanette
Ada -- already mailed. God bless you, you dear sweet person! Carol sent me her address hoping for the seeds, so I'll forward it on to you.
Chef, Hilary and Ruth -- please e-mail Polly and let her know that you're interested in her seeds :)
Gretchen
Have some ready to go tomorrow to Chefnl.
Thank you, you are very kind. Nancy Lee
Gretchen, got the seeds today. Thanks a bunch. Hope at least one of them produces something akin to Pink Beauty. Thanks again.
Jeanette
Dear PollyG......got Christmas again today.. All babies arrived safely.. Do you have any secret for getting them going? Also, how tall will these get in Fl being out all year? Thanks again. Nancy Lee
This is a quote from ABADS about seeds:
- Dry hard coat seeds are sometimes just dormant not dead. Water wakes them up and activates the germination process.
Soak dry hard coat seeds in water for 8-24 hours.
Fresh seeds do not need to be soaked.
2 - Carefully peel the woody looking seed coat off. The inner seed looks like a tiny bean.
If your seed is fresh, it is not necessary to peel them. (Mine are fresh - PG)
Some brug seeds, such as suaveolens and insignis, are too small to peel.
3 - Press seeds into the soil surface without totally covering the seeds and mist until soil is evenly moist.
It is common practice to plant many seeds in one container. After germination the individual seedlings are easily separated for transplant. In most cases you do not have to worry about disturbing the root systems of these tiny seedlings.
Be careful to keep the seed germination containers properly identified as to what the cross is.
Examples:
B. Butterfly x B. Charles Grimaldi seeds should be germinated together.
B. v. Ecuador Pink x B. Rosabelle seeds should be germinated together.
4 - Never let the soil dry out but do not over water. Too much water will cause the seeds to rot.
5 - Germinate seeds in warm, semi-shaded-shaded areas, protected from rains that can wash the seeds out, or use a regulated heat mat, 70-72 degrees.
6 - Seed germination can take anywhere from a few days to 8 weeks.
7 - You can transplant seedlings as soon as they develop their first set of true leaves.
8 - Adjust your new seedlings to the sun.
It normally takes a seed grown Brugmansia 4 months - 2 years to flower for the first time. But it can take longer.
Polly says: I add 1/2 tsp of hydrogen peroxide to a qt of water in watering to prevent rotting.
Note: "When picking out your seedlings it is a good idea to select individuals with an assortment of sizes. In our experience as breeders we have found that it is often the small and weakly seedlings that eventually produce the best flowers, with the most interesting colors. This is particularly true when crosses using a mixture of species or varieties of species (e.g.. Brugmansia, Brunfelsia and Osteospermum) where any reversion to the type, parent species, is often associated with the strongest seedlings."

Gretchen,
My seeds have arrived. Can't hardly wait to plant them. Thanks ever so much.
Digs
Donna, Jeanette and Digs -- happy that you received your seeds. The ones that I sowed from that same pod are just now sprouting. I didn't soak or peel, just dropped them on top of some moist potting soil right out of the pod. I also don't have them under lights as I've reserved those areas for other people's seeds. Just wanted y'all to know that they are viable :)
I hope you all get something pretty from them!
Gretchen
