Insignis Pink. I can't believe her color! She was loaded in November, but the blooms were nearly white. The first night of this bloom and she's as dark as I've ever seen her. What a nice surprise :)
Look what I found tonight:
WOW, is your GH kept hot?
Its been warm here all week. The average temp during the day has been 75-80 and the night temps have been in the 60's. During the really cold weather we had over Christmas, I kept it around 60 during the day and 50's at night... Pretty cool color, huh?
Beautiful Gretchen! Lucky you :)
Thanks, Pam. I only wish she wasn't so crammed into the back of my little GH that I could better enjoy her! Oh well, Spring will be here before we know it!
I am absolutely itching for spring too. About the only thing I protected this year are my brugs and little stuff that would be hard to replace.....overall our winter has been pretty good to us thank goodness - I haven't lost much that is exposed to the elements.
Oh, you're the lucky one! We had a really hard freeze that lasted 24 hours, so I would imagine I've lost quite a bit. Its going to be hard to tell until Spring though. I'm certainly not going to worry about it...
Looks great Gretchen!!
Gosh, that is some nice color.
Very pretty! I really think that the flower color is determined in the last few days before it opens. Ecuador Pink bloomed almost white for me during a cool spell in November, another pink opened up dark during a warm spell a week or two later.
Well it must be, Ronna. This brug has never bloomed this color before. Its always been more of a salmon-pink. I was so surprised to find her looking so vivid...
Thank you all!!!
Very pretty Gretchen...aren't brugs wonderful! They never stop amazing me with their beauty!
Very pretty, Gretchen.
So pretty, you are a lucky, deserving girl, congrats, she is a real beauty!!!! You work hard Gretchen and it surely pays off!!!
I think it just wanted to let you know how lucky it was to be in your garden!! Your plants are contented!!
Bonnie
Nice Gretchen!!! what a beautiful flower!
one word BEAUTIFUL
Beautiful Gretchen. When you think that you might have "dumped" her because she was almost white. Wonder how many might have been discarded because they had no color, first couple blooms?
Beautiful Gretchen. Yep a warm GH will do it. I alsmot thought it was Golfito the color is so dark. Mine IP never got that dark
Gretchan!! What a beautiful present for this time of year. That is gorgeous.
Jeanette
Thank you all so much -- yes, I'm glad I made room for her for the winter :)
Gorgeous pink, Gretchen. We are all so envious! :D
Very Nice Gretchen !!
Thank you both!
Not as nice as your current blooms Patricia, but at this time of year I'll take 'em!
What a beauty, Gretchen. Any close-up pictures?
Very pretty color for this time of the year and seeing blooms in the greenhouse during the colder months is so nice.
Gorgeous! It's so nice to have color this time of year!!
We are experiencing the same type of temps that you are. It feels like Springtime in January!!! My flowering bulbs outside are going to be SO confused!
Its is very pretty Gretchen! It has a good color for this time of the year.
Wow! Gretchen, that is a beautiful color! I really, really need to get a GH. :-)
that is the most beautiful color I have seen, wonderfull.
Thanks everyone! I have more that are just opening. The only bad thing about it is the plant is so crammed into the GH, that I can't easily get to it. I cut everything way back when I brought them inside in November. They are all so full of leaves and lush again, with lots of buds everywhere. Definitely fun!!!
Moonglow -- that's as close as I can get and still have the whole bloom in the picture. As it is, I think I lost a tendril or two,,,
Thanks, Gretchen. I just had to keep looking at this bloom. I haven't seen a brugmansia up close in real life. I'm fascinated with its color, tendrils and pinwheel-like shape. I'd sure love to paint a few someday.
You're welcome -- I'm sure you must be enjoying looking at photographs in old threads. There are some gorgeous brugs and gorgeous photos to be found.
Jospeh -- thank you! They really are best appreciated that way -- up close and personal.
