Blooming in the Greenhouse

Livermore, CA(Zone 9a)

This is B. pink beauty. This was another that didn't bloom out before our first frost. The morning that I heard to expect our first frost, I was out digging it up. This is the first year I have had a greenhouse to move them into, and it has been so exciting to see them bloom out in the dead of winter.

Very pretty Patricia...I love to see buds and blooms in the GH also, I have to go out this morning and see if one of my cuttings is blooming.
Enjoy!
BTW...what are your hanging plants hanging on? Is your GH frame very strong, to be able to hang plants on?

Oh gosh, very pretty. I'd love to have your greenhouse Patricia. It's just so cold here it would cost more than the plants are worth, just to heat it. You all in the warmer zones sure do supply my need to see blooming plants though. Thanks!

Patricia, you PB is just beautiful, she is one of my very favs and seems to make herself at home, no matter where she is. My kinda girl, ya know??!!

Margie, my greenhouse frame is really strong. I was told I could hang a couple hundred pounds every couple feet, but most of my hoya's aren't that large yet so it is working out fine. I already realize that I need a much larger greenhouse, but that won't be happening anytime soon.

Shirley, I can imagine that it would cost a fortune to heat a greenhouse in your part of the country. So far we haven't gotten below 28 degree's and that was only a couple nights. I have been able to keep the greenhouse above 50 at night and it stay's around 70 during the day. Being this is my first winter with a greenhouse, I am sure learning alot. My first major mistake was taking my shade cloth down. I have burned quite a few of my hoya's, so I have been out putting it all back up. It is quite a job with all those plants in there.

Jerodsmom, they sell shadecloth for the outside of the greenhouse, it fits over the plastic and is much easier to put up and take down plus it extends the life of your plastic covering. I think no matter how big the greenhouse, one never has enough room!

Looking good Particia. I am surprised your plants got burned. This happenend this winter? I guess my plastic is too opaque. I use the stuff from HD.

Thanks for the idea Susie, I had thought about doing that but my husband balked at the idea. He doesn't like having the greenhouse very much as it is. He said it would make it look like an eye sore.

Kell , I didn't think they would burn either. The brugs. love it , but the hoya's were getting to high of light.

Oh Patricia -- so pretty! I too need some shade-cloth. I keep hoping that DH is going to finally build me a real GH, so I haven't gotten around to it for this little hut...

Really nice Patricia. Love the Hoyas around it. They look so healthy.
