Here's my secret to the best tasting meatloaf you'll ever sink your teeth into!!.
Quarter cups of diced:
White and red onions
Red and green peppers
Jalopeno pepper,(optional)
Celery (optional),I love the taste of celery..
15,2x2, square saltine crackers,crushed
Garlic clove,small one,or use garlic salt
1 pound of ground round hamburger
1/3 to 1/2 pound of sausage,( I use Owens regular,has extra sage in it)
1 whole egg
Salt and pepper to taste, I also sprinkle MCcormicks seasoning salt to taste
4ounces of hunts tomato sauce
Mix together,using both hands
When mixed together,form into shape of a load of bread
Place in crock pot
Add peeled potatoes sliced in halves on each side
On top of potatoes add Carrots
Cook in oven 350* for 1 hour and half
Check after that time,add another 4oz,of tomato sauce on top,place back in oven
Cook another 30 minutes or until done,by toothpick test.
Side dish of corn on the cob,and Ceasar Salad
Set down and enjoy!!!!!
You can use ground chuck,but add more crackers to keep the loaf together,from the extra grease
that cooks out of the ground chuck.
Leftovers,it makes great cold meatloaf sandwiches as well.
