The "warts" on the bark vary from tree to tree. Compare against the other photo(s)

Interesting bark, I wonder why it forms those worts and what function they might serve. Have you ever tried the fruit?

From what I've read those warts are just projections of cork.
Hackberry fruit is quickly gathered by birds and is not usually left on the tree for too long. And since it isn't commercially harvested and sold in the supermarket, I haven't worked up the nerve yet to try it from the tree. I'm a finicky eater though and just getting around to trying a persimmon!

Lol, was it good?

I didn't like the persimmon. I spit it out. I wound up with the Hachiya variety from the store and I thought this was supposed to be ready to eat as soon as you get it because my friend says he eats them the minute he gets home. I kept it in the fridge for two days just in case. It must not have been ripe.

They can be quite repulsive unripe, or so I've read. I've never tried one.
