With some money I have and will be given for gifts, I would like to purchase something for my little GH...maybe a coil hose with wand & special nozzle. What do you have & just love??? Please tell me about it & include a brand name & even a web-site if you have one!
Any other accesories that you would recommend for my GH or garden???
BTW....I just love getting presents!!
Thank-you, Margie
Watering equipment for use in GH...
Margie -- I don't have any recommendations on what to buy, but I will tell you that you DON'T want a coil hose. They end up being a mess. We used to keep one in the horse trailer. Ugh. They get dirty, they take up too much space, they get hung up on things, etc. We now keep a flat hose on both the horse trailer and the travel trailer. They take up virtually no space and are just the same as a rubber hose when un-wound.

I bought mine at Walgreen's a couple of years ago, and its similar to the one above. The only downside is that you do have to un-wind it before use.
Thanks Gretchen...so glad to know about the coil hose before I got it! I hadn't thought of the flat one & can see it would be good to use with our RV also! Thanks for the recommendation!

You're welcome!
I use a coiled hose in the house, but I think it would be a big problem in a greenhouse, catching everything it came in contact with.
I have 2-coiled hoses, 1 is cute but delivers way too little water, other is larger, water delivery is ok for small pots but takes too long for 5 gal or larger. I have found best overall is to use regular 5/8 hose with wand. Best way to water in or out of GH is always some kind of automatic or semi auto watering system. Cost doesn't have to be out of sight and saves Hugh amount of time.
Just my thoughts.

i have a flat hose i purchased at lowes....its plastic and DOES NOT have to be unwound to be able to use it....its ok...but it would be great to have the water already in the greenhouse....lol....but the one thing i do have that i LOVE LOVE LOVE, is hot and cold water...i only had to add a Y hose on the spigot, and there we go.....WARM WATER....for our lovely missouri winters...now my plants dont get the shivers when i water....lol...my spigot is at the house about 50 ft away, so that is my downfall...:(

Sounds like a special kind of hose is of little importance...I think I will instead think about a way to water automatically in the GH and out, so I can be away alittle.
Cindy, please tell me more about how you got warm water out of your spigot!
Suggestion: I found that the minimum length hose is the best...even if you have to cut it. Also, lay it out on the ground/floor with weights at each end for 2-3 days...disturbing the "memory" in the hose so it doesn't want to wind up again and produce kinks. I like a "thing" at the end that will shower or squirt...or mist or.....

LOL, my experience with a coil hose and a flat hose is just exactly opposite of Gretchen's. I currently have 5 coils, all 50 feet, I think, they might be 75ft but I doubt it.
I've used coils, I guess since they came out, I had one in the house years ago, then bought one for the dogs and it was/is a lifesaver. I groom on my deck and bathe the dogs on their grooming table and, with the coil, I find it less unsightly and easy to get outta the way when finished. Now, I also use the dog coil hose in the GH too. For me, the key to the coils it to not buy a cheap one, they are almost useless - or the really expensive one I bought, sight unseen, is way to heavy, but works well. IMO, the best coil hose is the well made, light weight ones, my favs and I think they cost about
$30 and they have a watering nozzle that is not worth a flip and I take them off to use for emergencies, but I don't know the name, mine are a pretty shade of blue and my nursery guy gets them for he, he uses them too. The hose nozzle I love is the Nelson, blue and black, from WalMart. The first year I bought them, they wore out quickly, but were so good with the dogs that I continued to buy them. They have a trigger, that turns the water on and off (which is a real water saver for me), and also a gage on the nozzle where you can turn the water pressure up or down. I also buy Nelson hose attachments, and all my hoses are turned on all the time, but I don't have to go to the spigot, sp, all the time to turn the water on/off, to change attachments, nozzles, car washing attachment, etc. As you can see, I sorta have a water hose fetich and I don't like anyone tinkering with them, whew!! I tried the flat hose and I just never could get it rolled up and the minute I did, I had to unroll it again, duh. I know most of you guys don't like coils, but i think you would if you had the right one, I really cannot do without mine...
i just had my plumber run a line from the hot water out with the cold....so i have 2 handles....i put a Y on them and i got NICE WARM WATER!!!!!...lol

At my house I have two, 200' heavy duty, anti-kink, lifetime guaranteed rubber hoses that have shut-off valves at the nozzle end so I can change attachments without having to walk back and forth to the spigots either. I have one hooked up on the side and the other in the back, not too far from the GH. Glad you reminded me of that, Sherry! I only use the flat hoses on the road. I think I mentioned that we keep one in each trailer. They would not suit my purposes here. Even though I have soaker hoses installed in every bed, I drag those hoses around at least every other day.
Margie -- you will find that you can never leave when the GH is full. The only time I will chance it, is if the weather is like it is now. Overcast during the day and warm at night. Otherwise, you have to open and close the vents accordingly, as I'm sure you've found out. I keep hoping DH will build me the real thing!
I have hot water too, Cindy, for the dogs and my hands, it's a real luxury for my hands and well worth it to me!!! With dogs, cats, brugs, my hands are in water oh so much!!
I kind of hate my coil hose to, I am always fighting with it, and it does get kinks in it. Joelle
I also hated the coiled hose. I took it back and got my money back. LOL
