Really Want!

Brookeville, MD(Zone 7a)

I desperately want bilberry/whortleberry (Vaccinium Myrtillus)!! Does anyone have some for trade?

There's not much on my trade list now b/c it's winter and all, but I can trade now if you find something you'd like or we can set up a trade for next season when it gets warmer. I also have non-plant things to trade, books, art work, jewelry, pet items, etc.

Just read the PF entry - sounds like a yummy berry. Maybe you can grow it from seed?

I bet I can but I also bet it'll take a while to fruit :( I hope it tastes like wild blueberries (related), did you know it improves eyesite?!

That I could sure use. If you decide to buy seed (J L Hudson has it), I'd be interested in sharing the package with you (if it's got lots of seed). :)

I think that's where I was looking at for a seed source. Just get back to me in about two weeks and say, Why haven't you ordered the seed yet?!!!!!! I never remember anything on my own.

lol

I knew BB improved the eyesight but not that other. (I havent heard of half the plants you posted, LOL!)
You might be able to find some trees that are fruiting age and smallish. You don't have to train it to LOOK like a particular bonsai- just keep it smallish. Or wait til you get that greenhouse built- that'd be perferct!

Now that I think of it, bilberry would be great as bonsai. The leaves are pretty small. Plus berries on such a small plant would be pretty cool. Basically any plant from the Vaccinium species would be, I think, b/c they all have smallish leaves.

Want me to save you some seed?
