CLOSED: Have: Freesia corms for Glassine baggies
Please read my last posting. Thanks!
I am collecting/drying/cleaning seeds that will be offered to the membership to raise funds for our Garden Angel Fund. This year my intention is to prepare 50 sets of seeds, with a greater variety of seeds and new species (specially Chilean Native Plant seeds). Since no small baggies are available here (smallest zip-lock is sandwich-size), I usually make my own baggies. However, osteoarthrosis is badly deforming my sore fingers and there is no way I can make 1000 baggies within the next couple months.
I am offering 12 gold-yellow Freesia cormils http://davesgarden.com/forums/t/467096/ (that will very likely bloom for you the first season) for each 50 NEW Glassine baggies. There are 20 corm-offers available and you can have more than one offer; i.e. if you want 24 corms, you send me 100 Glassine baggies, if you want 36 corms, you send me 150 Glassine baggies, a.s.o.
Since people will pay for the seeds that will be packed in these baggies, I must ask you please not to send me recycled baggies. I love to recycle stuff when trading, but I think it is different when somebody is paying for something.
Also, I am out of padded mailers. Therefore, if you don't mind, I would use the same mailer you use to send me the Glassine baggies to send your corms; i.e. once I receive your Glassine baggies, I use the same mailer to send your corms (plus some 'thank you' seeds). Please let me know if this is OK with you.
Please post here to let me know how many corms you want and keep control of the stock.
Thanks,
Ursula
Edited to add these Freesia hybrids do come true from corms!
My address can be found in the Address Exchange.

Hi Ursula!I would love to trade!I have plenty of small baggies,I will count them and let you know exactly how many. The freesia is beautiful! Please let me know.
Thanks,Chelsea
Hi Chelsea!
Thanks for your reply. The Freesias are not only beautiful but fragrant as well. Let me know how many Freesia/Glassine baggie trades we will make and I will add your corms to the seeds I promised to send you 'early next year' LOL.
What is Glassine baggies?
Hi RDT!
Glassine are the little baggies used by coin and stamp collectors. These are my first choice.
However, if not available, I'll take zip-lock baggies as well.
Want to trade?
Greetings from sunny Chile,
Ursula
I apologize for asking such a Neanderthal question, but could you advise where the best place might be on the internet to economically acquire padded envelopes and glassine baggies might be?
I have stayed away from shopping on the net so far. ebay? other?
I would love to trade, too. Thanks - Karen
Ursula,
What size Glassine baggies are you looking for?
Ursula, are glassine baggies the same as plastic baggies? I can send you 200 2X3 baggies. LMK if interested, Doris
Glassine is more like wax paper...definitely not plastic.
Just as a reference for Glassine baggies:
this link was supplied in another thread http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=16508&item=5528024521
I don't know if this is cheap or not. I cannot buy them myself because I have no credit card.
Karen, I suggest you make a search on DG. I know the same questions have been asked/answered before. I cannot give you the best advise from my end of the world, sorry.
kayaker, just any of the small sizes will do.
Doris (djm-Doris), my first choice will be for the Glassine offers. If there are not enough Glassine offers for my 20 corm trades, I will take ziplock baggies (same exchange rate).
IMPORTANT NOTE:
Dave just let me know he does not think it will be necessary to raise more funds for the GAF for some time. Therefore, I want you to know that although I still want to trade for Glassine baggies, you would not be contributing to the GAF with this exchange.
I do not want anybody to feel cheated.
Thanks,
Ursula
Ursula,
Count me in...I have the snack size zip lock baggies, I would love to send you tons of that...and don't worry...24 corms will be fine...
I get all of mine at this nearby 99cent store that just opened here in Plano, Texas...when you walk in it looks like Wal-mart...it's HUGE and everything under the sun is in it....so, I'll be happy to send you more than the 100 you've requested...so count me in...my address is on the Members Address Exchange...
Hopefully you can use these for something else...if it doesn't work out...
I'll get some out to you tommorrow...
Take care and also take care of your osteoarthrosis fingers...I know that must hurt!! Ouch!!
rosebruce
Thanks Ursula. Good luck on your trade.
Ursula...How much is postage to Chile? Can we put on US Postage and how does it work to send back to the US?
Ursula those freesia are beauties. I have a lot of brand new 3 x 4 inch plastic zip-lock bags. I could easily send you 50 of them.
I know you would prefer the glassine bags so put my name at the bottom of the list and if you have any left I'll be happy to send them to ya! :-D
Ursula,
I am checking on getting around 200 of those glassines from e-bay...so hang on to at least 24 corms for me and I'll get these sent to you directly.
That way you can have what you want...
Hope this helps!!
Thanks,
rosebruce
I would love to have some of your seeds. Will send snack size baggies if that's ok. Please let me know and I'll get them off to you. Thanks!
Good questions Gerris2...I wasn't even noticing where Ursula lived, but what the heck....I've given her something she doesn't have and if I get the corms fine, if not fine also....(just a late x-mas present I guess) heh heh
rosebruce
I have small plastic zip baggies. What about me? Have you received mine Christmas card?
kaleem
Morning, I could send 200-300 zip lock coin types to you . please, let me know and the address and how many.
Have a Blessed New year!!
Ingrid
Ooooooops, wrote a lot of answers last night and .... where did they go? I probaby hit 'home' while still viewing the posting and .... OK, here it goes again.
Rosebruce, as you have already noticed, I'm not an American, nor have I ever live in your country (guess 4 days in NY City and 5 days in Miami do not count, LOL). Therefore, a 'snack-size' baggie is no concept for me. Please indicate measures. Ideally the size of ALL baggies I get should be more or less uniform.
SmilinLdy, the padded envelopes I have received with multiple seed-trades usually cost 80 cents. I pay for the return postage, as in any regular trade (this is not a SASE) although it will be far more expensive for me this time LOL. This year the cormils are bigger than on previous years.
Sue_WA, thanks, but please: no bigger than that. You are right, but my Freesias are not just beautiful, they also smell lovely!
Gerris2, I have sent them before and nobody cared for them.
Brendabloomer, the same reply as given to Rosebruce.
Gumlla, please indicate how many you would like to trade for. No, I have not received anything from you lately - I would have let you know.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Glassine offeres will be considered as my first choice. I like them much better than plastic, because plastic sweats and is not good for long-term storage. I always guarantee premium class seeds and don't want the recepients to be disappoited to find rotten seeds after having stored them for some time before sowing.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
As you will have noticed, I am keeping a record of your offers on top of this thread. Please keep me updated on the exact amount of trades you want, so I can adjust the figures.
Thanks to everybody so far and .... Happy New Year!!!!
I will send you 30 small plastic baggies. Is this okay or you are looking for more?
kaleem
Ursula, the snack baggies are literally half the size of a sandwich baggie, but because I know you prefer the glassine bags, I've ordered you some of the glassine bags straight from e-bay and will probably have them shipped directly to you if that is okay...
Thanks,
rosebruce
Kaleem, if you want to trade for Freesia corms, the exchange rate is 12 corms for 50 baggies, but I guess I can make one exception for my Pakistani friend! Will mail them together with the seeds I owe (promised) you.
Rosebruce, thank you very much. The snack-size baggies would have been too big, because I do not want them to store seeds. What I want is small baggies for individual seed packages (7 to 30 seeds capacity), the size we use in our regular seed trades.
Sorry Paridise, did not see your posting. My address is in the members address exchange, the same as yours. How about 48 corms for 200 baggies and some Chilean Native Flower seeds for the other 100 baggies?
wonderful, whatever is good for you-will be just fine with me will send this out on Wednesday morning-busy here at the salon.
Best Wishes, Ingrid
I don't know where i will find the glassine bags, but I will - I am absolutely nuts about freesia. so count me in for 2 dozen and i will find them
Count me in as well...I will send 100 paper type baggies...not plastic bags. I'll get them off next week. Please put me down for 24 corms for 100 baggies.
Thanks and Happy New Year!
Brenda
Ursula, sending you Glassine on me! Let me know when they arrive
Kim

((((((Kimmie))))))
Thank you, dear.
OK. I re-opened this thread. I still have 3 trades of Freesia cormils, but will ONLY trade them for glassine baggies (no plastic, no other paper type baggies, thanks).
Ideally I will trade them to one and the same person. If so, I will add some surprise Chilean Native seeds (very high in demand!).
The ideal size of glassine baggies is 2" x 2".
Thanks,
Ursula
Edited to say I have 3 (not 2) trades left and the size of the glassine baggies should be ideally 2" x 2"

Starlight, this is a trade and you don't have to send anything but the glassine baggies in a padded mailer that I can re-use to mail you the Freesia cormils and the surprise seeds. Do you already have the glassine baggies or will you have to buy them?
From my previous traders I can tell you that postage to Chile for 150 small g.b will cost you approx. USD 2.50.- I will pay the equivalent to mail you the Freesia cormils and seeds.
I already checked your address is in the exchange and so is mine.
Please confirm this to be OK.
Ursula
Kimmie, I'm e-mailing you.
