UNBELIEVABLE . . White Christmas for the Gulf Coast of Texas

Angleton, TX(Zone 9a)

Don't laugh, I know it is not major snowfall for many of you but for us it IS major.....lol. A white Christmas.....I just cannot believe it. It is my first and no doubt will be my only one that I will ever see. I am sick and feel terrible but I know I will find it hard to sleep tonight. I can't wait to see it in the morning. This is such a rarity for us. I have lived in my house since Dec 1972 and I have only seen snow here one other time like this and actually it was a little deeper.

Wow y'all really got it down there in Alvin! In Houston, we've only had about a 1/2 inch. Isn't it wonderful and strange? I've lived in Houston for 21 years and never seen this much on the ground here. They said this is the first White Christmas Houston has ever had! Merry White Christmas to you!

New Hyde Park, NY(Zone 7a)

My friend from Spring TX, called me this afternoon to tell me it was snowing there, enjoy it, it is beautiful for christmas. I am happy that you are getting a white christmas.

Lewiston, CA(Zone 7b)

How wonderful to have a white christmas when it is not expected!
I was wishing for one here, but it will be a day or so late!
Merry Christmas! & Enjoy!

This was my back patio at 11:30.

Nobody here can remember snow like this before.

I had hoped to photograph it at daylight, but it's already starting to melt....

We have had some here to. It is sticking everywhere but the ground.
My DS, DIL and grandaughters-4 yr old Gwyneth and 2 year old Destiny are living in Sugarland.
He called last night to say it was snowing and sticking to things. He had the girls out throwing snowballs as that much had stuck on the cars and such.
The squeals I could here, well there is nothing like the squeal of a child when they are having fun.
Gwyneth got on the phone long enough to say It's Snowing, Nonnie, It's Snowing. And away she went just squealing.
Oh my through the eyes of a child. I am also enjpoying the white Christmas.

Love to all,
Sandy

Wow it is beautiful but hoping it doesn't last long. No snow on the ground here yet but having sleet and looked at the weather and it is just above us so we will probably have it too by this afternoon. Don't forget to try some snow icecream before it melts. Fresh snow from a clean spot a splash of vanilla and some suger. Mix fast before it melts and enjoy lol Merry Christmas you all

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

Oh Frannie. The sad part is that two of your grands are in Florida and are missing this. It would have been so much fun with them in the snow. I hope you get to feeling better real soon and that you didn't get a lot more snow over night. Merry Christmas my friend.

GOD's Green Earth, United States(Zone 8b)

Frannie -- feel better soon!!! Bless your heart :(

Frannie and Donna -- Those pictures are unreal. We didn't get it here, but its soooooo cold. Was 19 when we awakened and is still only 27, but supposed to get into the 50's today. I hope!

Kingston, OK(Zone 7a)

Brug blooms in the snow. Nice picture you took. We got ours here too.

Murrells Inlet, SC(Zone 8a)

Congratulations Frannie!!!(LOL) Your yard is a beauty even covered with snow and I see something in that pic that you don't see very often , a brug with an open flower and snow on it at the same time. I kind of wanted it to snow here but looks like we won't be seeing any.

Enjoy your holiday and hope you feel better real soon.

Angleton, TX(Zone 9a)

Well we ended up with about 5-6" of snow in spots and the area has turned into a Magical White Christmas with sheets of snow being seen everywhere. It's beautiful. This picture is taken of the front yard.

We got a couple of inches, first snow here in a hundred years. Freezing rain started yesterday afternoon, then the sleet and at 4:30 when I got up there was snow. This was taken around 7 this morning.

EEEEK! Don't worry though all the plants will survive..a little damage to foliage but they will recover. Take plenty of pics it won't last long. :-)

Vancleave, MS(Zone 8b)

Oh wow Susie. It still hasn't gotten far enough east to get us yet but the sleet is getting pretty heavy now

Grass Lake, MI(Zone 5a)

I think first snows are just beautiful. Sush great photos!! Love Susie's photo!! Beautiful.

Cedar Key, FL(Zone 9a)

Here I am in the snow belt with
NO SNOW!!!!
and you guys got it all
It is snowing 15 miles north of here but it kills me that we had a brown Christmas and you guys got a white one
The good thing is that its probably a Christmas that the kids down there will all grow up talking about

Kannapolis, NC(Zone 7b)

The snow pics are beautiful.

Frannie, I hope you're feeling much better and had a wonderful Christmas Day..

CC, my daughter lives 3 hours north of here and came to South Texas to find snow. :->

At 29 years old this is the first time she's been able to throw snow were she grew up.

to funny Donna. We had some nice snow flurries all afternoon but mostly sleet. Probably have 2" of sleet on the ground.

Belfield, ND(Zone 4a)

Wow! I bet the kiddies are excited! Kids love snow.

Can you believe you have more snow than we do? We had about an inch a few days ago, but then it warmed up to the 40's and it's pretty much gone again. Very abnormal for you to have snow on Christmas, and even more abnormal for us to not have snow and be so warm!

Very strange weather this year.

Angleton, TX(Zone 9a)

By 3 o'clock and severals hours of sunshine, the snow was 50% gone. It is amazing that it did not hurt this brug bloom. It is a fresh bloom of Isabella. It was 30 last night and early this morning and it is hard to believe that it did freeze it.

Oh wow!! Some amazing pictures there! I hope everything will be fine! It sure is beautiful tho. I sure hope you feel better soon Frannie. No fun at all.

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

Just enough snow to be fun! Much more would wear out its welcome I bet! Great pictures. I love looking at it from afar.

Fritch, TX(Zone 6b)

Wow, hope everyone had a nice Christmas, white or not. My boys had the best time in the snow before it melted...

Great pictures everyone! Really amazing... We did not get so much as a flurry here -- was a beautiful, blue sky day with a high of about 50. Today its supposed to be in the 60's but its got a ways to go as we're in the 20's right now.

Angleton, TX(Zone 9a)

The freeze last night was a harsh one. I went out to pick up some of the big pots and then take the towel off of some of the tropicals and the towel was frozen into the shape of how it layed. My hibiscus looked ok . . no frozen leaves. I guess it insulated it like a little igloo would. Everything that was not covered has frozen leaves but I think most will come back in the spring. I do not know how far down the trunk it froze the brugs.

Susie.....your place looks pretty glistened with snow.
Dstartz.....it looks like your daughter is having so much fun seeing snow for the first time.
TF . . I can see that the boys are having a great time. Love the smile on your little one's face.

Coal Center, PA(Zone 6a)

Great pix Brugnanny and Calla!
And here I am sw Pennsylvania where though the last nights have been lower single digits, the grass is still green from so much rain and warm temps fall into early winter. No snow.
When it warms to thaw the ground, it is like soup.
Something is mixed up! ... LOL

Greensburg, IN(Zone 6a)

Our 24" is still here, looks like it will stay for awhile since we have very cold Temps. this is the worst snow I have ever seen, and looks like I will be homebound for quite some time.

Fritch, TX(Zone 6b)

Kareoke~
Do you need a care package in the mail? Or is the postman homebound too?, LOL I hope you have everything you need, and don't get too bored. Cabin fever can be a trying thing...
Nanny~
They hadn' t had that much fun in two weeks! It has been so cold here that we have been cooped up. We had been getting light dustings of snow and ice, so it was nice to have enough to play in, and warm enough to be out :)
Kaufmann~ Sorry you didn't get any white stuff, hope your plants are OK.
