Anyone Growing Tacca integrifolia Indoors?

New York, NY

Just got a Tacca I'm attempting to grow indoors under a Wonderlite with humidifier.

Anyone else trying to grow this indoors? Any helpful hints would be appreciated.

Not me. I lost six babies this spring. I wanted one to grow so badly. Good luck!!

Just from the way it grows here, I don't know that I would grow it under lights...mine are in 100% shade with bright indirect light. I am learning that the key to growing many tropicals is air flow...the minute I take a plant out of the greenhouse (where there is airflow but not alot) to ourdoors they take off...

I am drying a bunch of Tacca seeds...and while my Red Torch Gingers and my Abiu seeds all rotted...I have had good luck getting these to dry....

Any one want to try them...or anyone who has already said they wanted them please remind me...no SASE necessary...just happy to send them out...

AlohaHoya (aka) Carol,
I checked them out on the plants database.... Looks like they have big leaves.... I'm a sucker for big leaves...... If you have extras I'd love to try .......

Thanks, Carol. The instructions also said that they require good air movement, so that does it, I'm getting a little fan. Will help everything else here too, I'm sure.

The instructions also said that it likes "shade," so I'm trying to figure out the equivalent of shade under this light. Just moved it a little closer to the light since the leaves looked floppy, as if trying to get more light.

If you have any left, I'd really appreciate trying some seeds.

Carol, I would like to try the Tacca seeds if you have any left. My sister brought me one home from her vacation in Florida last year, but I killed it. It had a bud but it dried up. :(
Is there any kind of seed you are looking for? I didn't see a trade list for you. (I don't have one either).
Thank you! Pam
