That is soooo pretty. Are they easy to start from seeds? I'll have to find some if they are.

Donna, I believe that it is easily started from seed. Being a tropical plant, you will probably need to grow it in a large container and bring it in in the winter in your zone.
Man I WISH these would grow here! Guess I'll just have to stick with mimosa.
I have never seen this plant in person, but the blooms ae such a great color of red, Thanks for your comments.
I have a small two-footer. I believe this is a variety of Calliandra houstoniana or vice-versa. This particular plant is being experimented with as a fodder mix supplement in the tropics. When I got mine TopTropicals was selling them for $9.95. The leaflets are extremely fine.

Is this what alot of people having growing in their front yards in Fla?
Mine hasn't bloomed since I got it late this summer, but it has put on lots of new growth.
