Are these guys ready for dirt?

Carmel, NY(Zone 6b)

One is Cupid's Blush, the other is Pink Beauty, and I want to give them the best chance to survive. Should I wait until te roots are longer before I put them to soil?

I would put them in dirt, sequee. I have done them when they have roots like that and have had good luck so I would think you would to....

I'm with Dee -- I would plant them now. The one on the left has me a little concerned. Healthy roots are nice and white, while dead roots are darker. I sure hope that cutting on the left is still alive :)

I was thinking the same thing when I first saw them, but think it might just be that it was in water for a long time. Now is a slow time of year for them to get lots of roots. Hope it takes off when potted up. I always use root starter solution when I pot mine.

I just received the one on the left a few days ago, so it hasn't been in the water very long. I will watch it closely!

I always use root starter when I put my cuttings into the water. Are you suggesting I use a bit more before I place it into the dirt as well?

Lima, OH(Zone 5a)

I have not used it in my water while rooting, but when I pot them I water them with it. Use your own judgment. Whatever works for you.

We don't know yet - this is my first round w/brug babies. And I am soooo excited I can hardly stand it!

Which brings up another question - how long does it take for brug seeds to germinate?

Harlem, GA(Zone 8a)

Sometime's in the right conditions, 8 days. I have mine in rock wool and some in peat pods, and after soaking, I cover them up with plastic wrap until I see green then I put them in a plastic baggie. Win some and lose some. I have luck with both ways. Oh and light above & heat underneath is working for me too.

Good luck to you Sequee and Merry Christmas!

I agree with the majority, plant them now if you can :)

Oh, dear! I didn't soak the seeds! They are brand spanking fresh, though. datdog just took them off her brugs a short while ago. Do I need to dig them up and start again? Drat, drat! Guess I shoulda checked here BEFORE I planted them. They are in seed starter pots peat and potting soil, on a humidity tray in the corner of the sunroom - south and west facing windows. They will go under the growlight as soon as I get it installed - not too late, I hope.

Do the same instructions follow for datura seeds?

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

No, you don't need to dig them. It will just take a few days longer for them to come up. LOL! I'm sure they will be fine without the growlight until they start germinating, also. Happy Holidays!!

Carmel, NY(Zone 6b)

Great! They'd probably be alot happier if I'd just leave them alone and quick prancing around doing the germination song and dance! I just can't seem to help myself, though, and I KNOW it's helped with my tomatoes in the past!
