Howie said I wasn't going to be able to open the box until Saturday, Christmas day. It came today via UPS, and I'd resigned myself to a long wait, but he put the box on my chair tonight and let me open it. I'm so excited!
He had a bunch of overtime from two really busy weeks at work, and said that's what he wanted to get me for Christmas. It's a refurbished notebook and we think they may have accidently put this one on with a lower price than normal -- we grabbed it! It's a Dell Inpiron 600M Celeron M 1.50gHz, 30gb hard drive, 256mb RAM, 32mb video card, and integrated 802.11g wireless. I am just *thrilled* with it! The integrated wi-fi leaves the PCMCIA slot open, so I will just keep my CompactFlash adapter in there permanently; that will be really handy for my digital photography.
We're keeping my desktop, which we got a little over a year ago refurbished from Dell. We'll probably put an ATI All-In-Wonder 9600 TV card in it and use it as a media center in the living room. I didn't want to sell it since it's a newer computer and I might still want to use it for photo editing. Howie thinks he might play games on it, too.
Anyhoo, Santa came early and I'm cranked! It may be daylight before I get to sleep.
