... and I have given up to be the mediator. It's been only 3 weeks when I last untangled the mess and now look at it. Wouldn't be so bad if they only stick through the blinds but no, they have to decide to snake inbetween the strings and small gaps to make it really though to untangle without damaging them :(. At least the blooms of pubicalyx 'PS' while it's -20 C outside off-set the mess :).
Ahhh the joy of growing Hoyas indoors without Greenhouse.
The Battle Of Hoyas With Blinds...
Its like an indoor jungle Milan!...what do you do with the blinds when you have to water them?.....imagine what you could do with a greenhouse eh?. lol
Sandy
Isn't it amazing what we allow our plants to do, but won't allow our pets or kids:-). Happy Holidays and blessings!!
Blessings,
Awanda
Yes but they can be stubborn especially when you want them to bloom and they dont!.....whats even worse is when they tease you with a penduncle and it sits there for months.....lol...
LOL....well Milan looks like you won't have to worry about blinds much longer. With a collection, the size of yours, growing should take care of the privacy/light issue very quickly.
Methinks thee fights a losing battle!!!
:~{)
You collection is sure happy, Milan! If you think it is rough trying to get those vines out of the blinds, you should try untangling them from chains in the greenhouse! The vines stay bare until they get through the chain and then start putting on the peduncles and leaf clusters. It never fails!
Yep meltn, it never fails. In the pic you see in the middle on top 2 stems, one is carnosa the other is imperialis and they grew through the small gap between the blinds and the wall and they are pretty firmly stuck now and only can get them safely out by removing the blinds from the wall. I don't mind cutting the carnosa but imperialis seems to sulk when I trim it or even bend it so I let them grow right now as is.
Pam, still need a little more growth of my jungle to get full privacy and in summer they'll go outside again (OMG what an untangling job that is) so would have to reinstall the blinds.
Sandy, yeah my biggest "teaser" is archboldiana which keeps on growing buds since this summer and then just sits there doing nothing :( (I stopped singing to it as the buds fell off when I did that :). I made a special watering can with a short piece of hose attached to it. The hose also helps to water the densly overgrown baskets as it is diffucult to find a gap through them to water the soil and water would just run down the sides if you water on top.
Well Awands think about it if you wave your finger and scream and yell to the pets they just look innocently stupid at you so one gives up and with plants one believes they laugh at you when you do that so you give up trying and just let them do what they want :)
Happy Holidays to all of You !
Milan
Happy Holidays to you as well, Milan!
Last summer, my H. carnosa attached to the siding of my house and when I finally was able to pry it loose, it took paint and siding with it! The vines have no mercy!!
Have you thought of just leaving the blinds pulled up and go to using curtains to draw for privacy? Much harder for them to get a grip on curtains. Ha
Marcy
Holy Lord, I'm praying for you Milan. :-O LOL!! Attack of the hoyas!!!
