Hi, everyone !
I like very much cooking, especially cakes and cookies.
I want to share with you some Romanian traditional recipes. Are you ready ? Here we go !
Cozonac (Romanian Cake for Christmas)
The “cozonac” is a very good cake made of :
1/2 kg flour, 300g sugar, 4 eggs, 100g butter, 250 ml milk , 40g yeast, a bit of salt, jellee or nuts and cocoa, vanilla, mixed orange or lemon cover.
You have to mix the yeast with a spoon of sugar, until it gets liquid, then mix with a spoon of flour. Cover it with a napkin-cloth and put it in a warm place to grow, for 15 minutes. In the meantime, you pour the flour in the bowl of the robot, add the sugar mixed with yellow part of the eggs, salt, vanilla and orange cover, the yeast after it has grown. You put on the robot and pour the warm milk and melted butter, until it forms a ball inside the bowl. I usually mix the ingredients in the robot for 1 minute. Then you have to put the mixture in a bowl, cover it with a napkin-cloth and put it in a warm place for 2 hours to grow. After it has grown, you put some butter on the table, pour the mixture on the table and press it with your hands, until it has the form of a sheet of paper. You put some pieces of jelee, raisins or a mixture of nuts, cocoa, sugar and the white part of the eggs, all over. Then you roll it and put it in a form, where you put some butter around, so the cake would’t stick. The mixture must fill half of the form, because it will double it’s volume after growing. You’ll have to let it stay another hour to grow, covered with the napkin, in the form. Then, cover with a bit of the yellow of an egg, sugar on top and put it in the oven for 50 minutes, at medium heat 180 degrees.
For the nuts mixture, you’ll have to mix 250g of nuts, 100g sugar, 2 spoons of cocoa and the mashed white part of the eggs. Then put it on the piece of cake mixture and then roll it.
It is a rather difficult recipe, but it can be done, and it’s delicious ! I hope you’ll do it.
This was the first one.
