Easy to grow succulent with dainty flowers
Variegated Jewels of Opar, Fame Flower 'Variegatum' (Talinum paniculatum)
I did not realize that this variegated form exists...thanks for posting it. It has a lot more leaves, in a different arrangement than the talinum I have grown...mine only had a basal rosette of green leaves (different species). The tiny round balloon-like flower buds certainly are similar.
Mother Nature, I'm not familiar with this one, gorgeous leaves, I'm Succulent crazy, I can't get enough of them, lol
I never see any seeds on it, or I would send you both some. I'll see what I can do about rooting some for you in the spring. They take pretty easily.
This is the first day of winter, it was 36 this morning just to prove it. Things don't strike roots very well at this time of year, even though it warms up during the day. It will be 70 this afternoon. I don't have a greenhouse.
I won't forget you, though. Mother Nature4
Gorgeous!
Mother nature, no problem, spring is just around the corner, (I hope, LOL), Thanks, Annie
You are very kind and generous to offer a cutting, MotherNature, but I don't know it I can cram in another plant. I spent several hours yesterday trying to crowd a few of my favorites into my house (from the greenhouse) because we are getting a heavy snow and often our electric goes off for hours due to falling branches or trees. Usually that is okay, but it is supposed to get very cold, near zero, and I fear I might lose some plants. If I do, I will retract my statement and beg for a piece! I have a small propane heater for emergencies, but it does a very poor job and has no blower, so only a few would make it with that for heat.
I sincerely hope this is the worst of the winter, for you in the south as well as me here in Missouri.
Boy, this has really been a bad storm farther north of Florida. It was 42 here last night, so that wasn't bad. I did bring in orchids and anthuriums, but that's about all. I get worried when they forcast lower than 35.
Hope you all make it through OK.

Thanks, Mother...so far, so good. We got about 8 inches of snow and 2 nights at zero, but the electric stayed on. Had a good Christmas, and hope you did too!
MN4....any more info on this plant....I have been seeing it in the nurserys and it looks like a 'keeper'...but what about that invasiveness? Any info would be appreciated...thanks
Hap
I didn't make the entry regarding it being invasive. It will reseed, but it could never be thought of as invasive. In fact, I'm a little concerned because I haven't seen it this spring. Our rains have started, but the sun is so hot that everything is burning up. We lost our big shade treesin the hurricanes, and it is a shade lover. My new shade house will be complete next weekend. Certainly hope I haven't lost it after all these years. MN4
That is so sad to hear. We had a 6' high wood fence tipped "a little" over in a couple of spots and that was about it for us...Oh, a couple of coconut palm fronds got bent and also our cardboard palm was bent....That's it. I can't imagine what you have gone through..
One can replace roofs, etc. but it will take nature years to put back her unbrella..
What did you do before the storm....about the plants....? did you take them in? I wouldn't know where to start.
In fact, this year if storms come near...could you and others post, maybe on the weather forum. anything helpful to people to safeguard their plants during a storm. I know I sound terrible.....like what about our lives!!!!, but a little help in the plant direction would be nice. Am I asking it correctly?
Anyway, I hope you understand..
Nancy Lee
Actually, we brought everything we could into the house. We also have a protected place on our carport for the huge ones in pots. Others were put under tables and heavy shrubs. We grow a lot in containers. As far as the stuff planted in the ground, it came through with just some loss of leaves. It was the trees that were really hurt. We still have a few large oaks in our front yard, but there's nothing but an orange tree and shrubs in our little backyard nursery.
We had three hurricane eyes over our house, but that was the first since 1960. Our home was not damaged. We are ever so thankful. MN4
You have been blessed.. with all that and you are literally unscathed.....Hope we all survive this year....NO HURRICANES>>>>>>>>
Thanks again for all the info..
Hap
Wishing you renewed gardening, hope you and your gardens rejuvenation!!!!! Annie
