I have a few from ma vie rose that are even blooming right now....I am keeping them under lights about 14 hours a day and took them outdoors today to change their water as it was nice and warm...Thought I would show you a photo!
My cuttings from fellow members doing well...
That's cool. I might have to try some bigger cuttings next year just to have a bloom later in the fall and early winter. Looking good.
Looking good!
I can't believe you have flowers on your rootings. (I feel like Gomer Pyle - Go-o-lly!) I'm so psyched to actually be growing brugs and dats!!! Watch out if I get a flower...you won't be able to stand me! Good for you - they are lovely, picturelady!
Thank you Shirley, hibiscus & sequee....I forgot to mention the cuttings with blooms are Solid Gold, Dr. D x Whiskers and Tequilla Sunrise ! They were probably given to me with tiny buds and no roots...and have been doing their blooming now!
My Whiskers is outdoors right by the sliding glass door and is continuing to bloom and has a few more buds, too.
I'm doing everything within my power just to get mine to root! I change their water twice a day (and tell them Imlove them and ask them please, Please, PLEASE won't you grow up big and strong for your new mommy?).
Best of luck to you. I can't wait to see your photos this summer!
Margie those really look good. Good for you. Jeanette
sequee....actually I only change the water once a week...They are all rooting well, except my versi orange which got soft and the bark peeled off...or I should say floated off! I cut off the bottom & am watching to see if it will root now.
Best wishes to you, too! It sounds like these are your very first cuttings, right? I got my first rooted cuttings and planted seeds this spring and summer. They do grow and multiply in number really quickly!
This is my Whiskers and Versi Peach a few weeks ago...
OMG - they are beautiful! Yes, my first try - thanks to JRush, datdog and Gingerlily! Gingerlily gave me a wonderful POTTED Jamaican Yellow x Pink Beauty, and Julie gave me 2 potted Species and and several cuttings, most of which I promptly killed! The Isabella cutting she gave me is doing great, though, and "went to pot" last week! All of datdog's cuttings have nubs and mini-roots, a couple look like I could actually put them to soil! I'm way too excited! And I can't even imagine what I'm going to do with them when they grow big and strong! I look at the photos and cannot even believe I can grow these!?!
I love your excitement sequee....makes me want to post more photo's just to hear your response!! Please be sure to post photos when yours bloom!
Margie -- they look wonderful! You are doing so well by them and they are doing well by you!!!
Go ahead and post more pictures so we can listen to Sequee squeal!!
I'm very impressed with the results you are having with your cuttings. This is my first year for cuttings also and the people here at DG have been very generous. I hope to make them proud.
Judy
You'll be listening to me moaning and groaning if I don't get no frowers!
Thank you Gretchen and judycookie...
sequee...we won't let that happen to you!!! Do you have a photo of your cuttings now? When did you start them?
BTW...where is Carmel N.Y.? I am from NY and grew up on LI. Also grew up in OH and now in CA. I am not finished growing yet!
Here's another photo for you!! It was taken in the little GH a month or so ago.
Rosemond purchased as a rooted cutting this summer...from Barb...
OMG - You're going to give me a heart attack with all this beauty! I just planted my Rosamond seeds from datdog yesterday! WOW!
I haven't taken any pictures of the cuttings. They are all different sizes and shapes, in everything from Snapple jars to coffee mugs! I have noticed that they are doing much better since I followed JRush's advice and took them out of the direct sunlight! There is so much to learn. I'll get there though!
