Awesome. You really had some good germination going on there. Where did you get your seed?

Ventura, United States(Zone 10b)

Very cool, Mark! Way to go! They look great.

San Diego, CA

Brugie, Thank you, I talked a guy in Hawaii into selling me his last 189 seeds he had. I watched these for about 4 weeks and was starting to think they might not do anything, then they all came up at once, about 5 day's before this photo was taken.

You go Mark!!! thats its a great group ob babies you have there

San Diego, CA

Clare, thank you. Now that the Racemosa and Quadrangularis have gotten off to a good start, my next two projects with seed are P. Platyloba and P. Antioquiensis. Also, guess what??? I got my hands on P. Parritae, one of the rarest of all passiflora. Hope I can keep it alive, they like the cooler weather.

Gulfport, MS(Zone 8a)

Wow is all i can say!!
Is there "i want to buy" list? lol

Ventura, United States(Zone 10b)

Mark, you might have a few orders to fill before long. Congrats on acquiring P. Parritae. I'm sure, if anyone can keep it alive, you can. I look forward to more pictures from you!

San Diego, CA

Clare, with that being said, I guess I should do some more work on the web site. lol

Nice looking babies! Congrats on the great germination.

Cala, thank you, this is starting to be fun, dealing with seeds.

Ventura, United States(Zone 10b)

Wait until you have to repot each one, Mark! I don't envy you for that job:-)

Spring Valley, CA(Zone 10a)

Quite a feat Mark! You got a P. parritae? How in the world did you do that? I sent my card in from Pacific Horticulture last winter and still haven't heard from them. I think they were overwhelmed by the response and have had problems rooting the cuttings.

What about this place in Encinitas? http://www.tradewindsfruit.com/order_fruit_m_z.htm

They've got P. membranaceae seed listed.

Ron, I will check out the link when I get home from work tonight. As far as the Parritae, I didn't get mine from the source of the Pacific Horticulture plants, plus these things are 5 to 6 feet tall, in 1 gallon pots. Cost me $35 each, but worth it, beautiful plants.

Clare, have you ever had a chance to see this plant up at Strybing? It usually blooms around August, Sept. It's an incredible site to see those huge orange flowers hanging from the tree tops.

Ventura, United States(Zone 10b)

No, Mark, I haven't had the pleasure, but I will go some time.

San Diego, CA

Clare, you must, and by the way, where exactly is Camarillo? Isn't it quite a bit north of my San Diego?

I want to get to Descanso Gardens, the L.A. zoo, and the Los Angeles Arboreum too one of these days when I have more time.

My friend has quadrangularis(yes, the real one) growing at her nursery. She said they did not like the 44 degree weather the other night. They are planted in the ground. I hope they survive the rest of the winter.

San Diego, CA

Cala, that wouldn't by any chance be Renee would it?

No, this lady's name is Cathy. I just gave her the DG addy today. I told her about the plants database.

Ventura, United States(Zone 10b)

Susie, that would make sense that she has the real one. The real one seems to be very cold sensitive, which is probably why it is not seen much. Even in Zone 10, we drop down into the high 30's at night in the winter. I think it must be very difficult to keep the real deal alive outside in the winter in Zone 10. It is probably meant to be a Zone 11 vine. My P. quadrangularis "Warmlands" is still blooming in the greenhouse. I had to pick the flower because it is too dark in the greenhouse.

It has a nice soft scented soap-like fragrance:

That is a gorgeous flower Clare. I had that one but killed it. I need to go to Logees and order another.
Cathy and her hubby love exotic plants/fruit. They have a bunch of Hawaiian stuff.

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

Logee's has free shipping right now on orders over $75. It would be a good time to order if you didn't live in the cold Midwest. LOL! I can order, but I have to pay now and not get my plants until April. I don't really care for that policy.

Floresville, TX(Zone 9a)

That's a lot of seedlings Mark:-) Are you starting them in a greenhouse or inside?

San Diego, CA

lol, they are in the dining room right now. Greenhouse is not heated, so they like it better in my house.
