18" tropical hibiscus plant with healthy leaves and a few buds in a south-facing bay window. perhaps i'm not watering it enough? should i also fertilize it during winter?

ah, i'll read that tropical hibiscus link again and see what's up. meanwhile, feel free to give me advise and all =)))

thanks.

Sudden bud drop is pretty normal when they are inside.

You should water when the dirt feels dry - - too little is better than too much. And yes, you should fertilize if you want to continue to have blooms inside.

She bloomed! I couldn't focus and couldn't TURN her, afraid she'll fall off.

Looking good!

I also read that low humidity will contribute to bud drop. I believe this to be true as I don't have many buds drop off in my popup greenhouse where the humidity stays up.

I'm getting the disctinct impression that an indoor hibiscus should not be turned. Why not? I turn mine with every watering and the flowers don't drop until they're expired. Its in a south-facing window. Is mine an abberation, or has it maybe just adjusted to its regular adjustments do you think? Thanks.

ceedub, you have the touch! your plants are so lucky to have you.

i'm a novice gardener, perhaps someone will pop in and answer our questions. there is a link though about not turning the pot of a budding hibiscus. i'll find it.
