Is this a Y

Greensburg, IN(Zone 6a)

Is this considered a Y, I have several cuttings growing like this I sure hope it is because then I can start thinking BLOOMS :)

No, not a Y. That appears to be new growth on a cutting. If the cutting was above the Y it might bloom without forming a new Y though.

Tellico Plains, TN(Zone 7b)

Doris, what you have is just a side branch.

A 'Y' is formed by the growing point dividing in 2 , like a fork in the road.

Your plant needs to mature and get stronger before it can support a huge bruggie bloom.

Greensburg, IN(Zone 6a)

awww shucks :) but thanks

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

LOL Doris. Good try! Next summer you will be knee deep in blooms.

Greensburg, IN(Zone 6a)

kell I hope your right cause I am sure babying these along, and the one that is over 4' is still going just straight up.

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

If you want trees Doris, hope they do not Y till about 5 or 6 feet! And I know I am right! LOL

Greensburg, IN(Zone 6a)

gee kell I do NOT want trees, I want blooms, and bushy *LOL*

Paxton, FL(Zone 8a)

They will come.

SE Arky, United States(Zone 8a)

kareoke, listen to Kell. After you get a bloom or two, you will want a tree!!!

Greensburg, IN(Zone 6a)

Sherry I do want a tree but where would I put it, I can't dig it up every fall and it would get too big for me to bring in the house, no man power here :)

San Jose, CA(Zone 9a)

kakeoke...I think a tree kept under control would be easier to dig up than a big bushy brug! I haven't really had either yet, but it just seems that way to me!

Greensburg, IN(Zone 6a)

you could be right picturelady, but I am going to try leaving in the pot and bring in to the house in the fall.

SE Arky, United States(Zone 8a)

kareoke, I do ALL my flower stuff, with a great wagon, and a dolly, worth it's weight in gold. I only had two trees this year, and they were not difficult to dig up to bring inside and I had worlds of other heavy plants to bring inside too. And, honestly, they were easy to bring in, it wore me out but it wasn't hard. With my wagon and dolly, I can move just about anything right by myself and I love doing it. My aunt is 80 and she brings her stuff inside with my wagon and her dolly. In fact all the girls in our family, have their own dollies and one of the first things we taught the grands was how to use the dolly...

Greensburg, IN(Zone 6a)

wow that sounds great, where did you get your dolly, and how big is it.

San Jose, CA(Zone 9a)

Sherry...I would like to hear more about your dolly...or see a photo even & where it can be purchased. Sounds like a great idea!
Margie

SE Arky, United States(Zone 8a)

My daddy gave me my first dolly and my son gave me the wagon for Mother's Day. You can google dolly and gardening wagons, and find just about anything you want. My first dolly was 'heavy duty', I've since bought a med sized one and a small one, as well as a platform dolly, which has 4 heavy duty wheels. My aunt & my son's wife both have the wagon and a dolly each. We live next door to each other and we have never attempted a move that didn't work. Furniture, freezers, cement bench, AR flag stone, fence board and cross ties, quikrete, sand, mulch, potting soil, bricks, on and on. I keep my small on in my car, just in case I run into something I want and there isn't someone to load it for me, like my 'datdog blue' bird bath, I used my dolly and loaded it myself...

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

I got mine at Sears, but I'm sure you can find them cheaper than what I paid. I would get one that has big tires though. The kind with air, not rubber tires. They go over the ground much easier.

San Jose, CA(Zone 9a)

Sherry...would it be like this one...?

That is a very nice cart/dolly combination, but while useful to haul lots of plant stuff, I'm not sure one of the 25 gal containers would fit and I know the wheels would make it difficult to pull. I prefer wheels that have to be aired up and they are smaller, fat and wide and the wheels sit behind the shelf where the huge plants ride. We also use bungee , sp, cords to steady the plant for transport. The site below has a big selection of dollies, and the tall ones, with the fat wheels toward the bottom are really nice for moving plants...You will probably have to cut and paste that addy, the name of the site is Grizzly...

Sherry...your link worked fine for me !
Do you mean one like this...

or this...

We have the house dolly, the general purpose dolly, the appliance dolly and a smaller one that isn't shown, that the guys use to carry their stuff to court, books, computers, etc. My gardening wagon is like the blue one, with fat, air wheels an mine has a shelf that goes across the rails so i can haul two or three layers of seedlings or plants in one trip...my grands use the dollies to take stuff from house to house, like their washing, when they were remodeling their kitchen, laundry room. Once you have a dolly, you won't believe you were ever able to live without one...

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

The red one has the right kind of tires on it. I can't quite tell by looking at the yellow one, but they look like rubber tires.

San Jose, CA(Zone 9a)

Do you use one of these also Shirley?

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

I sure do. I couldn't possibly move all the pots I have without one. I use it to move bags of soil here and there also. I even move plants into the house with it because it will pull up through a door and over the step easily.

San Jose, CA(Zone 9a)

It sounds like something I gotta have!!
P.S. Did I tell you on love shopping on-line!?
With a birthday a week after Christmas...I love finding things that I want and need!

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

We have used ours to move a refrigerator out of the house and a new one in, used it to move a new dryer to the basement, and for other things in the house. It's great for moving those heavy cement stones too. You will really be glad you did get it, but it will take you a while to remember you have it to use. Sometimes we just, out of habit, pick up the pot of dirt and start walking. When you get it there and your back hurts, you will remember you have the dolly. LOL! By the way, for moving boxes on moving day, these are great.

Tellico Plains, TN(Zone 7b)

Margie,
...........with my BD a week BEFORE Christmas I have to wait until after the holidays to do my personal shopping.

This at the direction of my DD, .....LOL

San Jose, CA(Zone 9a)

scoot....nay, I don't agree...do it NOW !!!

Greensburg, IN(Zone 6a)

I gotta have one also, am I reading this right that the best one is the one with air in the tires

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

For sure Doris.

Greensburg, IN(Zone 6a)

gotcha :)

Southeast, MS(Zone 8a)

These are kinda neat, round back, meant for carrying trees/shrubs, large pots.

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

I like that one, Lomanve. Was that on the same site?

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

http://www.amleo.com/index/help-desk/subcat.cgi?Cat=FA Here are some nice ones. Some a little high priced, but I like the way they are made for hauling trees or even pots.

Southeast, MS(Zone 8a)

http://gallery.bcentral.com/GID4789397P3839169-Wheeled-Goods/Tree-Dollies/RBM88110.aspx

Took quite a bit of digging, but I found it.

San Jose, CA(Zone 9a)

Lomanve....that one is really nice, but a little bit pricey for me.

Shirley...what is the difference between one made for trees and pots and one that is not?

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

The regular one has a straight back and the one for trees has a curved back so that pots would slide back into a grove that is rounded. The pot wouldn't be as likely to slide off the side that way. I'm sure the biggest difference is the price. I can deal with the straight back since I already have one.
