I hate this part of the season... saying goodbye to all the trops and gingers... Everything I couldn't dig up and stash in the greenhouse.
I've been running my greenhouse heater nonstop for days and can't get it above 50 in there... whoops! That's another forum...

Hey, I've been trying to kill one just like that all summer!! It got spiders in the house so I put it outside on the terrace; decided to leave it there until last week to freeze the bugs off. Worked, its back inside, WAY fewer leaves, but the spiders are gone... I know, I'm am abomination ... lol.
Lisa, it's going to get chilly here too but no frost predicted. I think it's cold all over the whole US today(except southern California). Hope your babies have a nice rest, they'll be back before you know it.

They'll rest.., we'll not get too cold for too long, at least I hope not. The weather man said this a.m. that we might be in for a colder than normal winter.
Same as here.. wont be too cold for too long.. Poor my bananas, they'll wilt and ugly! My brugs are having lots of buds!!!! Wahhhh I'm gonna miss to see them bloom. I guess I better bring them in garage instead in the temp GH! So I can enjoy the bloom when they bloom!
All those tropicals are georgeous! And I was feeling sorry for my poor collards and a few brave cabbages! It's only 7:15 pm and it's already 21 and going lower.

Dori, you said it right, if it would stay cold it makes the losing it a little less painful, it is when you have just one freeze and kills them ouch!

lol ladies i hate that killing frost more than winters long months and my heart breaks for those that have to go through it and in the south its such a waste...to kill the plants for a day or two!!! mean old jack frost gets the SPLAT of tar!!

I've had my nancy's for about the same amount as yours. I think they must really like the area they are in. They've done well...one of my most favorite additions to my garden.
I just looked out the window and everything looks like it melted..lol..bad o' jack frost...
We got to 42, too cold to walk outside barefoot this morning! It will be in mid to upper 60's today.
My poor friends!!! Im sorry you had to be hit by that nasty Jack frost!

Dori, I'm dressing in layers too! I've got a bathrobe over my pajamas and socks on with my house shoes. (it's early here, lol)
At least the wind has slowed down for now, yesterday the wind was what made it feel so cold.
It's 28 right now and it feels like 23! It's real COLD!!! I think my brugs are okay.. but had little frost on it.. they are in pots! One I forget and left it out during night. Wahhhhhh It's gonna be in 50's today. Right now, everywhere's white with heavy frost... bananas are wilting.. Sun's coming out and bring some little warm...
