Cutleaf Japanese Maple, Threadleaf Japanese Maple 'Garnet' (Acer palmatum var. d

Elgin, IL(Zone 5a)

Nice acer! Whas that the fall color or did turn another shade? George

Milton, VT(Zone 4a)

jhayes,

How tall is this tree and how long did it take to get to this height?

Greensboro, NC

I bought this as a specimen. It was quite expensive. I've only had it 4 years and it really hasn't grown that much in height

Austin, TX(Zone 8b)

jhayes, I just bought 6 of these for foundation "bushes." I'm glad you said they are slow growers. Are they still doing well? I'm in Austin, Texas, and will have them under a 2-tree canopy. I'll baby them so hopefully they will live/grow. My DH grew these in Dallas, Texas, so "had" to have some!

Kruch, my paperwork on these "Garner Laceleaf" JM's says "Fine, red-green foliage turns bright red in fall. Grows to 10-15 feet. Partial shade." So....I would imagine jhayes took this pic in the fall....yes?

Greensboro, NC

Connie, you are right, this was taken at its fall peak. It is reddish-green during the growing season, the more sun, the more red, but not as red as in fall

Oswego, NY(Zone 5a)

I am in Oswego, New York. I purchased a reduced price Garnet Japanese Maple. I am wanting to create a look like jhayes5032. I am planting this in the ground. I am concerned about the branches that may touch the ground, and how to prune them properly. Help!
