Seed pods!

Paxton, FL(Zone 8a)

Can I salvage these loads of seed pods I have? It's really gonna freeze hard here tonight, the pods are not ready to harvest but most have been there quite a while. Is it worth it to collect them? Can you get anything out of them when they are still green? I don't need them, just thought I would share them if it would do any good to collect them. All are either pink or white and most un-named and naturally pollinated.

You could dig the plants or try taking long cuttings, but I don't know for sure if that would work. Maybe someone here has had good luck doing that. Hope someone will stop by with info on how they have saved pods. I'd be interested too so I wouldn't have to drag in a bunch of big brugs that I really don't have room for. LOL!

I had several immature pods when I brought my plants inside for the winter. I left them all on the plants, some were my "sunken bucket brugs", which I dug and moved to my dormant room. On others, I took trunk cuttings (4-5' long) and placed in water in my bubbler setup. All of the pods continued to grow, some are now approaching maturity, and beginning to shrivel. They look like they'll be fine, but I haven't opened any of them yet. I'd say, if you can, take some long cuttings and put them in water, and see what you get.

Anything is worth a try to save them. You know for sure the hard freeze will get them.
