As I kid I used to eat these roots all day....
the lil tender new rootgrowth tastes somewhat like almonds, the older woodier part needs to be cooked.

I have to admit there was a time I would not have even considered eating my beloved plants yet you speak of it so nonchalantly as a childhood memory that now I have to go for it. Tell me what to do to cook them and how to season them and I will try it with a few friends! What the heck!

Oh wow, I didn't know you could eat them!! I have some just like that & they are spreading like wildfire!! Does anyone have any clue how to separate & move them??

I take a serrated kitchen knife and slice down in between. I then dig up the half I want and move it. Some die and some live. The seed is a double dormancy seed so it is tricky to try to germinate it. You must have an ideal location for these plants like me as I have people begging me for divisions of this plant. They sure do like moist shade though don't they!

Anyone know how to cook them?

I had a friend from England send me one shoot last year. This spring I had 4 pop up, hmmmmm, wonder how many I'll have this spring!!!! They REALLY love moist shade........ as you can tell from both of our bunches!
