Some photos...

Well, to be honest, I am a little frustrated today. I tried to take several pictures of my Christmas Tree and the 2 cats and dog, with it, around it ,etc. None of them turned out. Too blurry, pet moved, too light, too dark. I finally gave it up as a bad job for today. I think I'll have to rely on spontaneous shots or none at all. I'll try and take more photos of the tree during the daylight and see how that works out. Anyway, I did take a couple that turned out, one on my walk with the dog (today I had fresh batteries) of the Columbia River in it's winter garb and another of a couple roses that I finally plucked off one of my bushes yesterday. Darn things just wouldn't die!!

...and here are my never say die! roses that are now resting comfortably in a vase on my kitchen counter.

Roses in December...wow! Nice shot of the Columbia River Donna. It doesn't look like there's too much snow left around. It's frustrating taking pictures of animals. I bought a Santa hat for Harley last Christmas but only managed to get one good shot of him in it. Hang in there Donna. I'm sure you'll get some good ones. Still lots of time. At least you've got your tree up. That will make a great backdrop. I still have that to do. I spent the afternoon putting the rest of the outdoor lights up. I put the icicles up on the house 2 weeks ago. I figured if I didn't get the rest up today I might as well forget it.

Thanks Sandy, I actually much prefer the Mighty Columbia in it's Summer wear...

Well I think that goes without saying Donna, since we all know your opinion of snow. LOL

That first picture of the snow, ...... yuk. I'm quite happy where I am thankyou very much. It's nice to look at, but....

Today was a nice surprise, was supposed to be raining, but was scattered clouds, and mild. ( I didn't wear a jacket or have socks on in my Birks!) I even had energy today. I was out to the vets for more insulin and tests for our girl Kalya, then some grocery shopping (I don't have the evergy lately for this stuff, since they started playing with my prednisone dose). Saw 10 deer in a field by the nursery, and the nursery was having a sale! I got a ginger.... I read the tag, but ended up not in my plant when I got it home. I'll check the data base. The other side of the nursery is a sod farm, but lately with all the rain, they are growing mallards and CDN geese. Then I've finally sprayed all my brugs for those ever persistant rotten little nasty (keeping it clean here) spider mites, and even found some aphids. I sprayed after I cut most of the remaining brugs. Put up some shelves to make more room on the deck/GH, took down a table we're not using, AND brought the BBQ up on the deck so we can use it over the rainy season.

Just reading this makes me tired. it's the most stamina I've had in over a month. I wonder how I'll be tomorrow? As good as today would be nice.

Gee, sorry to hear you have been feeling "under the weather", literally, Linda. I noticed you weren't posting much in the last little while, but I didn't know it was because you were not well. I hope you start feeling better soon. It's the pitts to be ill during the Christmas Holiday Season!

I'm sorry to hear you're not feeling well too. It's always a little cheering to buy a new plant...especially on sale. Gingers are neat plants. When you look up the name could you post it? I love looking up different plants on the internet. Mom and Dad have a ginger in the yard that has fuzzy brown flowers that you can't really see for the foliage. I didn't realize there were other kinds until I started looking at different plants on some of the tropical seed sites. I discovered there are some really cool gingers.

I lookes through the database, and couldn't find anything that looked like the one I got. I'll take and post a picture tomorrow. I'll have to go back and get the label, must've been in some other plant instead of mine, ;)

Thanks for the get well wishes. I have a chronic auto immune disease, that's been giving me trouble this year. I"m learning not to over do it, accept things, and listen to my body. ........ It's an ongoing process....

BTW Donna did you get an early Christmas gift? Your pictures look a bit different.

Thanks everyone. It's raining here, I've had my breaky, read the paper, been up for 2 hours with the dog, and think I'll go back to bed and 'think' about getting the tree, and decorating the living room. I feel OK so far, but will take it easy. Thanks for the best wishes, and concern. I"ll get a photo of that new ginger later, in the day light.

Yes, Lilypon. My DH and I got each other a Digital Camera for Christmas. It's not the best made Camera in the world, not a Canon, Olympus, or Pentax, but it works pretty good and it's easy to use, which was important to me. It's a Radio Shack brand called Centrios. We like it just fine. Thanks for noticing. :D

Just take care of yourself and rest Linda. If you're doing the photo of the ginger for me, don't worry about it.

Well, we've gone back out the nursery and the information on the ginger is:
Hedychium ginger "Dr. Moy" Fragrant flowers are pale peach and golden yellow on 4' stems. Blue/green foilage with white speckles and streaks. Prefers moist soil. Prefers full sun to partial shade. Hardy to zone 7 (-17 to -12 C ) found a photo of it in the database. http://davesgarden.com/pdb/showimage/57435/

We also got our christmas tree, and will be palying with it later today.

I'm OK today, had a good rest this morning ;)

and closer of the leaves.

Oh yeah, almost forgot... not! I also bought a new plant again today, it's a passiflora "star of Bristol" rose pink flowers, with heights of 20-30 feet. It doesn't look like much now, but I have high hopes. Every other time I have tried passiflora seeds, even soaking them in OJ, nothing works, so finally bought a plant. Here's link to which passiflora I got. I wish I knew the colour first, whis wouldn't have been my first choice, but hey, it's better than nothing! forgot to add the link

The ginger sounds like it's going to be nice when it blooms. The foliage looks beautiful. It's amazing how much the plant looks like a canna. Lucky you with the passiflora. I've always wanted one of those. I finally just got some seeds and have started them. One came up so fast in my little heated aquarium though, that it grew long and leggy because I had it in the dark. Then I propped it up by a light and fried the leaves. I don't know what will happen to it now. I guess I'll have to pin my hopes on the other 4 seeds and pay a bit closer attention. Live and learn eh?

Castlegar, BC(Zone 6b)

Gorgeous Passiflora. I love the color. I bet you'll be very pleased when it "grows up".

Cool Ginger plant. I have never seen one before. I love big foliage plants. You made some pretty good choices and selections this past couple days. I envy you your 2 zones. I know, so what else is new?

Glad you're feeling better today. Remember to take it easy though.

Victoria, BC(Zone 8b)

I always feel better when I buy plants.... better treatment for me than almost anything.

(lamenting) now if only we owned this place and I could plant it all instead play with pots!
