I have a brug in a pot and it's got a couple little shoots coming thru the soil next to it..... My question is are these 'good' brugs. Do I let them grow until I repot and then cut them from the mother plant. We talk alot about seeds and cuttings but can you get a start from the roots ? and are these starts just as good as seeds and cuttings...?
Thanks for any and all advice....

Brug in pot is shooting up little brugs.....
OH YES.,......let it grow, and they are growing from the roots, yes they are!!!
Good luck, just don't overwater is all :)
I agree. You don't have to cut them off either, that is if you want a bush type brug.
Thanks for the tips.... I'll let them go ... I'd like to acheive the alley tree look next spring.....
It is hard for me to know how much water they like......... Those of you who are experienced 'Bruggers' would laugh if you knew how many times I've repotted brugs because I thought I'd overwatered..... LOL .... I do think I was over-watering my brugs in the house so I planted some black magic ears in with them.... I think the ears drink up enough of the extra that it balances my over-watering out....... at least I hope so .....
Valerie, put a little peroxide in your water when watering. It won't work if you are bound and determined to drown them, but it sure will help. It is oxygen.

Wow..... all the Brug tidbits where has that one been...... How much peroxide ? I've been watering them 20oz pop bottle once a week.... that seems to work fairly well....... How much peroxide should I mix with it ......... ?
I get thrilled to death when I see more of those shoots. I LOVE the bushier look, so I let them do whatever they want. I get more shoots, more and more branching from the stems, and I love them that way. (That's just me, though) Since mine are indoors in the winter, I want fluffy more than tall. In a 12 gallon pot, they use the room to go "sideways" to send up more stems. Again, that's just me.
Hi Valerie,
I have been waiting to get an answer from my daughter who uses hydrogen peroxide also. The reason I didn't tell you what I use is because I don't measure. the peroxide. I
My daughter uses 1/2 cup per gallon of water. So, figure it out for your 20 oz container. I really think you will like the results. Just don't think because you are giving them oxygen that you can over-do the water.
If you find that you have accidentally over-watered then I would maybe make it a little stronger.
Years ago I used to buy Oxygen Plus by the 1/2 gallon. It was the houseplant gardner's savior. Over-watering is the biggest killer of them.
You have heard it every where else and now I am telling you. But use the peroxide. I discovered it is the same thing as the more expensive Oxygen Plus.
Good Luck, Jeanette
????i learn something new everyday.....now tell me what does the peroxide help to do?.....:)

brommom, I am no expert, but I believe it adds oxygen to the water. Someone will come along and give more of an answer ...I hope :-)

I am no mad scientist BrugAddict but you are right and thus, when you water your plants with it you are putting oxygen down around the roots of your plant instead of all of that water.
Maybe we have a mad scientist in the audience????

You got it Shirley. That is exactly where I read this. I did use the Oxygen Plus 30 years ago though. Maybe dumb luck? Jeanette
Hydrogen Peroxide (H202) consists of water (H20) to which an extra molecule of oxygen (0)
I agree, but then why isn't it (H200)? No, I am not into science. Jeanette
