Anyone else

Murrells Inlet, SC(Zone 8a)

having weather as crazy as what we're having here on the east coast of S.C. ? Our temps since November 1st have ranged from the low 80's to the mid 40's for daytime and from 70 to 30 at night.
We've only had frost 4 times so far and at least one of those was a killing frost though it didn't kill everything back it did hurt a lot of stuff.
This morning I woke up at about 7:00 with some very heavy thunder going on and then turned the tv on only to find out that a line of severe thunderstorms was rolling through the area and we are under a tornado watch until 10 o'clock am. High outside right now 72.
Here is what the coming up week is gonna be like for us. I can only imagine what this winter is going to be like on the coast after having a fairly mild summer, lots of hurricanes back to back and plenty of rain in spring and early summer.

Fri Sat Sun Mon Tue Wed Thur
70 58 56 60 54 51 52
50 37 41 38 28 28

I'm sure these temps can and will fluctuate in either direction a degree or two so I expect that we'll end up having some days warmer and some nights colder than what they are actually calling for.

I wanted to post a pic of my Charlie Brown brug on here but when I went out with the camera to get it guess what? Dead batteries!! When I go out to wally worls i'll get a fresh pac of batts and take a pic to post later.

The brug is Pink Floyd and it has been hit hard by frost, the leaves are just starting to come back out on it but it has one little flower open this morning and looks just like ,actually worse than Charlie Brown's christmas tree!!

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

LOL! Charlie Brown trees seem kind of popular at this time of the year. I'd take your weather, David. Mine is not nearly as good. Today's high is supposed to be 33 degrees. Hope you don't have any serious storms.

Harlem, GA(Zone 8a)

in the 60's here and it's a tad windy

I know too well the Charlie Brown Christmas tree's....my daddy used to go out in the woods when he was hunting, and all 5 of us children would await his arrival home with the tree! It was a sad little cypress tree and when we'd hang ornaments on it, it would just fold right over like wilting over more like it lol...but we made it so pretty and were just thankful we had a Christmas Tree. We loved it just like it were a 30.00 one :) Ahhhhhhhh the good ole days!

Murrells Inlet, SC(Zone 8a)

I was born and raised and live right on the ocean well maybe a mile from it. So it doesn't get cold enough here for firs or spruce to grow in the wild. I would someday love to live in the mountains of WV or KY maybe and be able to go out into the woods and bring in my own fresh cut tree for christams.
I think as i'm getting older i'm getting kind of tired of flat land , I want to move to the hills.

Harlem, GA(Zone 8a)

I'm over the hills so I would fit right in...in the hill's! LOL Bless MY heart! lol

Gulfport, MS(Zone 8a)

Beautiful day here!! We havent had our first first yet, which is so weird. We were supposed to get it Mon and Tues, but i noticed this morning that it was revised.
This is our projected H/L

66 55 62 63 56 56 69
42 40 49 40 33 36 46

I wish it would stay like this year round, but i know its not. I really wish winter would hurry up and get here so the growing cycle can be completed. I'm noticing new growth of the pecan trees, which means the crop will be affected next year.

GOD's Green Earth, United States(Zone 8b)

Our weather has been crazy too, but at least the sun is shining today and it'll be in the high 70's as it was yesterday.

Kannapolis, NC(Zone 7b)

David, we're having weather similar to yours, just a little colder. We had thunder storms one after the other all night with tornado warnings. It's been a weird year for weather in the Carolinas.

Tulsa, OK(Zone 6b)

David, our weather has been close to yours. Lots of dreary weather, though. My niece actually called her mom long distance when the sun came out, she was so glad to see it! We've had a couple of freezes, but I just noticed that I still have a little sprig of basil alive down deep in the pot.

One suggestion for you: rechargable batteries! If you have a couple of sets for your camera it really will save money in the long run & you can have batteries ready to go all of the time.

Columbia, SC(Zone 8a)

I agree, quite different for December, but I'll take it. I'm working in the yard today and it is almost hot.

Greensburg, IN(Zone 6a)

our weather has been crazy, very warm then very cold, Tornadoes, wind and rain and today fog so thick schools were delayed for 2 hrs.

Vancleave, MS(Zone 8b)

Same here David but no frost yet ond only a couple of times it has gotten down to 42. But now 35 predicted for tuesday night. My time is up :-( Now everything that is still blooming won't be anymore.

Gulfport, MS(Zone 8a)

Donna,
35 is still okay, lol

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

I'd be happy to have 35 now. It won't be long and our highs won't even make it that high. More like 10 or 15 for highs and sometimes we won't even break 0 degrees. No wonder I don't like winter. That is too cold.

Gulfport, MS(Zone 8a)

Yuck.....brrrrrr

(Nadine) Devers, TX(Zone 9b)

Ya got that right,MSJen..Yuck and very BRRRR...still waiting for my first frost..mmm...

Angleton, TX(Zone 9a)

Brugie.....I cannot even imagine not breaking "0"

We have been unusually warm for this time of year. Thursday was 79 and just one degree from tying the record high for that day.

Last night was in the 50's and this morning it is 65.....wonderful weather with the sun shining.

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

Let's hope it continues. I'm not ready for the very cold weather.

GOD's Green Earth, United States(Zone 8b)

brrrrr... I'm never ready for the really cold weather anymore!!!

Taylor Creek, FL(Zone 10a)

Brugie, we're having a Central and So Fla Swap the 19th of February at Lake Okeechobee. It sure would be a good time to come south for some chill relief.

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

But who would take care of all my brug babies? LOL! I'd love to go someplace to get warm, but if our relatives can't get us to Arizona, Texas, and Virginia...chances are good that we won't make it to Florida either.

Taylor Creek, FL(Zone 10a)

Dog-gone-it!

Belfield, ND(Zone 4a)

Our weather has been a bit strange too. Usually we are hovering around the zero degrees mark in December. Today we had 50 degrees and 50 MPH wind.

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

We are in a severe weather warning for high winds tomorrow. Not looking forward to it. Another day at home. I did start soaking another nine kinds of brug seeds today. That must put me up to about 25 different crosses. I have some super friends!! Tomorrow I'll be planting.

Columbia, SC(Zone 8a)

I've got a bunch going too. I keep asking myself "where am I going to plant all of these???" Over the winter, I plan to have some low limbs removed from the trees to allow more sun, and several trees I would like to get rid of all together (but that gets rather expensive).

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

We had a tree topped last year and it was $500. I'd hate to have to start paying to have them removed. It is horribly expensive but a job I wouldn't want to have, myself.

Vancleave, MS(Zone 8b)

Well they lied. Now saying may get as low as 19 for 2 nights. I think we are going to have a really cold winter. It took its time in coming but we never have temps this low until late Jan and Feb.

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

Gosh Donna, I hate to hear that. Sounds like our temps are going to be on the rise after a low of 9 degrees tonight. It has been a great December so far.

Vancleave, MS(Zone 8b)

Ouch!!!!!!!! Shirley. I guess I really shouldn't complain should I ??? We have been having mid 70's for days and 58 at night. Just call me spoiled LOL

Kannapolis, NC(Zone 7b)

Donna, our weather had been like that for awhile. It sure makes the low 20's and the teens seem much colder than usual. Yep, we're spoiled. LOL

Deep South Coastal, TX(Zone 10a)

Cold here too, it was 48 this morning. Brrr......not supposed to get this cold in December here.
