Oh, I like that one!!! Janet, I think I have read that some of the variegated EE's don't show their coloring until they get a little age on them. Hopefully, next summer, you'll have lots of leaves like this.
Very nice. I hope it will stay that way for you. Someone told me that variegated ears don't like to be fertilized. Has anyone heard that before?
How neat!! I wish mine would do that!
The funny thing is that as far as I know this one wasnt supposed to be varigated at all. All the other leaves came out totaly solid green and the pic on the package when I bought it was solid green. Dont get me wrong Im not complaining one bit, I think its so beautiful but I get the feeling that its not going to happen again after it gets put back outside in the summer.
Its very interesting to me that it had varigated tendancies in the first place. Now if I could really just figure out exactly what I did so that it would always happen.........LOL.
Maybe it's supposed to be variegated due to a mixup from wherever you bought it, but having it in full sun made it solid green. This does happen quite frequently.
If you bought it at Wal-Mart or Lowe's in one of those baggie-things, it is probably a mixup, which is their loss and YOUR GAIN!!!!!
Good luck with it, it is beautiful.
Janet
Congratulations! Hopefully, it will continue to give you more varigated leaves!!
If you do use fertilizer, go for the "no Nitrogen" brands like Alaska Fish Fert. 0-10-10....or something similar. It is the nitrogen that can cause verigated plants to revert to green. What a beautiful ear tho!!!

Cool Thanks Mel, Ill remember that and go look for that fertilizer. The more leaves like this would be gorgeous.
That's kind of strange. Is it getting a lot less light than it was outside?
My umbrella tree did the same thing. It was soild green when I bought it but it's been growing inside in the front hall with only light from the windows and it turned vargieted on me.
Alot less light than it got outside. I have it next to a south western window wich takes alot of the direct sunlight away, I also have it in front of my frog tank wich has a uv light so it does get a bit more of those rays than it normaly would where it is. Im not complaining mind you I think it looks so beautiful, but I had no idea that this could happen under any cercumstances. I just thought it was so cool.
