New here ...hello from northern Nevada

Dayton, NV(Zone 5b)

yes hi,

I just signed up here and have never posted anywhere before, so please bear with me. I live in a small town east of Carson City, Nevada. Having just recently found my passion for gardening (about 2yrs. ago), I have many questions. My favorite things so far are all things Clematis, Japanese Maple (Acer palmatum), Dogwoods and Ornamental Grasses. I am so glad to have found Dave's Garden, especially since it's winter and here in zone 5 (I think) it's very cold out. Not much gardening to do in Dec.

My garden is on approx. 1/2 acre. I have a small greenhouse, a gift last Christmas from my wonderful husband of 25yrs. We have two grown daughters, a springer spaniel youngster (age 2 1/2) and 7 month old kitten.

I don't know how to change the 'No' to a 'Yes' in the new? column. Help?

Welcome from West KY! You'll love it here.

The 'no' and 'yes' in the columns only change when there is a new post that you haven't seen yet. If you've read everything in that thread, then a 'no' will be there to let you know that there is no new activity.
Then, if someone posts...besides you (the program knows that you have read your own post) Then a 'yes' will appear to let you know that there is more information that you haven't seen.

There are lots of other little things added to this site that you will run across as you learn. Anything blue is a link. Including all of our names. You can click on our name and be taken to a page where you can send us an email or see what we have contributed to the Plants Database. Once you have clicked on a blue link, it will turn green...again, to let you know where you've been.

Feel free to ask any question, lots of folks will be around to help you out...this is a vast site...it boggles the mind the information contained here. It will be a learning experience for sure....but we've all been there....there are no silly questions....ask anything your heart desires.

Again, welcome

Hello, you and I are neighbors, well almost. Same kind of climate, anyway, so we will probably be growing a lot of the same things. I'm new at the greenhouse thing too, made my share of mistakes last year and like all gardening, I think we will never have all the answers. Welcome to DG, you'll like it here.
