Castlegar, BC(Zone 6b)

What an idea that is Lynn. It's one thing that is missing on the forums, and boy, could I ever use it!

Moose Jaw, SK(Zone 3b)

Well the little bit of German in me would like to say "thank you" Lynn! :)

Moose Jaw, SK(Zone 3b)

That's beautiful. What is it? Some type of lily?

Nanaimo, BC(Zone 7a)

Is it amarylis? Very beautiful

Moose Jaw, SK(Zone 3b)

It's an Amaryllis.....Papillio Butterfly. I rarely grow them but found this so unusual I had to try it. Found it's bulb at Superstore.

Castlegar, BC(Zone 6b)

Very nice. I have never grown them. May have to try next year. :)

Celaya, Mexico(Zone 10a)

Thanks Lynn but St. Nicholas didn't want to see me but "Knecht Ruprecht" is always interested in me (dunno if anyone here knows that one).

Edited for being a German that cannot spell in his own language

If we did have a spell checker, how ever would we separate "color" from "colour" ? ;-)

A Jewish friend of mine says that the "Chanuka" transliteration is closer to the somewhat guttural sound of the first letter in the orig. Hebrew. It started last night at sundown....I had posted a Happy Chanuka message in General Discussion, but got only one response.

Whichever way you spell it,
Happy Chanuka to our friends of the Jewish faith!

And happy holidays to everyone, whatever occasion you celebrate, and when!

Happy tree, one up, one to go! E

Favourite...favorite...too..to... LOL Spell Checker would still be a Godsend for me!

Ottawa, ON(Zone 5a)

I find it only catches about half the stuff, and that's not even counting all the Canadianisms! And sometimes it even suggests incorrect things, to replace things that were correct. It seems to be particularly vulnerable in the areas of grammar & punctuation. But I have a honourary lifetime membership in the grammar police, so I may not be a good example...;-) lol
It's better than nothing, anyway.

Try working at the library......where books have been published by both Canadian and American publishers. :b

Moose Jaw, SK(Zone 3b)

Looks like Milan could use a German one too.

Ottawa, ON(Zone 5a)

Sprechen Sie Deutsch, Milan? ;-)

Castlegar, BC(Zone 6b)

OK, Shannon, quit showin' off! I suppose you type in French and Spanish too, huh? LOL

Ottawa, ON(Zone 5a)

Mais, oui....hee hee hee

Castlegar, BC(Zone 6b)

Tsk

Moose Jaw, SK(Zone 3b)

BTW I have a cute email regarding English/American spelling written by Basil Fawlty. Too political to post it here but if you would like to see it send me your email address and I'll forward it to you.

Moose Jaw, SK(Zone 3b)

check your DG mail again Shannon.

Please send it to me too Pam?? Thanks!

Moose Jaw, SK(Zone 3b)

heading your way Christine.

Ottawa, ON(Zone 5a)

Good one, Pam...thanks again!

Moose Jaw, SK(Zone 3b)

You're welcome.......glad you enjoyed it! ;)

That's very good Pam. I just scanned it, as I'm at work, and said work is piling up. But the part that I did read is excellent! Thanks. Time to get off DG now .... lol.

Castlegar, BC(Zone 6b)

ROFLOL. That was a good one, Pam! I couldn't help but read the entire thing in an English accent. It just fit somehow. Wouldn't that be hilarious if such a thing could happen. :D Thanks for sharing.

Moose Jaw, SK(Zone 3b)

I sent it again to you Donna.......the first one didn't space very well. Glad it gave you a chuckle too! ;)

Me too please, Pam

I'd like it too.

Moose Jaw, SK(Zone 3b)

Jeanne I sent one to you and Liz (forgot which email was whose for a minute). Echoes I've sent you a DG email.

Thanks Pam. The Americans on the brug forum got Liz and I mixed up for years. I guess it was cause we were the only Canadians around.

Campbell River, BC(Zone 8a)

Pam could you please send it my way too. I always like a good laugh.

I noticed this on a thread on the brug forum. I was thinking of trying it out myself. You can choose the Canadian version so it would probably have colour, etc. Thought I'd pass it along here in case anyone wants to try it. [www.iespell.com] The person who posted it said it's a free utility for home users and installs itself right into your IE browser in the tools. They also said it was non invasive.

Moose Jaw, SK(Zone 3b)

Sandy (I hope I have your name right) it would be better if you clicked on my name and sent me a private email listing your email address. It's a rather long email and it breaks up somewhat when I send it through Daves.

Thanks Pam. a good chuckle.

Moose Jaw, SK(Zone 3b)

Thought so too. Check your email Linda and Lynn.

North Saanich, Canada

Hey Pam, can you send it to me too???? I love Basil Fawlty!

Glenda

Campbell River, BC(Zone 8a)

Got it Pam, thanks, it's hilarious. I'm going to print it for my parents. They'll love it.

Sandy

Moose Jaw, SK(Zone 3b)

Your welcome Sandy and Glenda (good to see you posting again) please send me your home email addy again....it spaces better if I don't send it through Daves.

Moose Jaw, SK(Zone 3b)

Finally sent Linda her's........if I missed anyone please let me know.
