Amazing Growth

Angleton, TX(Zone 9a)

This is a picture of my garden in May when I first planted some seedlings. It is truly amazing how fast the brugs grow. The second picture is after a day of much rain and I had to get a 2x4 to hold a big branch of the pink one up. The pink is another cross of Susie's and the yellow on the right is the first brug that I received from my Daddy who passed away 4 years ago.

Awesome. Do you think you could maybe ship that back yard to Iowa next spring??? Those paths and the whole layout are just gorgeous. The brugs are awesome too. They really do grow big in Texas. LOL!

Adrian, MI(Zone 5b)

You have the yard that I dream of!

Homestead, FL(Zone 10b)

BrugNanny:
You have your own private paradise. It all looks so beautiful and serene. If I had your yard, I'd vacation there every evening! :-)

Kannapolis, NC(Zone 7b)

Beautiful, Frannie.

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

Frannie, does it keep you hopping to keep the leaves and spent blooms picked up? That is one nice thing about sitting pots out in the grass....I can rake things up. However, I do have to weed eat around them so I guess it would be an even trade off in a way.

East Texas, United States(Zone 8a)

beautiful!

Denver, CO(Zone 5b)

Its just beautiful!

Keaau, HI(Zone 11)

Question: where are the weeds?

Angleton, TX(Zone 9a)

Shirley, I have a little 6" rake that I go around the plants lightly with and I even rake the walkway lightly if there are lots of leaves. I really do not spend much time maintaining it, but you can probably use your weedeater around yours faster than I can do do my raking.

Thanks to all of you and your responses. It is on the decline now and today I did some cleaning and trimming. It was beautiful today . . 75 degrees and sunny and very low humidity.

Murrells Inlet, SC(Zone 8a)

Shirley you can't have the yard, cause if I get to Texas before you do,i'm bringing it back to S.C. with me!!!(LOL)

Harrisville, MI(Zone 5b)

Amazing Frannie, you have a yard like I dream of.

Columbia, SC(Zone 8a)

Next year my goal is for my yard to look more like a garden and less like a garden center. Well done Frannie.

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

David, no fair. I know you will get there before me. LOL! I'm not sure my little truck would get much of it back here anyway. Maybe Jim and I should just go there an buy Frannie's place.

Murrells Inlet, SC(Zone 8a)

Shirley that sounds like an idea. It doesn't snow there and I know you would love that.

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

I would, but Jim wouldn't. However, he would be much closer to his youngest brother.

Grass Lake, MI(Zone 5a)

Frannie ... it is so beautiful. Love your walkway ... what a great place to spend time in.

Angleton, TX(Zone 9a)

Maybe tomorrow if I get a chance I will post more pictures because you cannot see all the walkways and it will give all of you a better idea of what it looks like.

AlohaHoya, I really don't have many weeks to speak of in this area. I would say that I don't spend 10 minutes a week on a few weeds that might come up that are probably from the birds. The whole area of grass was killed with Roundup, tilled and sprayed again. As the beds were built we bought all new soil that contained, peat, sand, compost and horse manure. It was not cheap but well worth the hours I have saved from weeding repeatedly. It is important to get a mixture from a reputable place that you know does not contain any type of weed or grass seeds. In another bed, outside the garden area, my DH went the cheaper route on planting mix and the bed has had a problem with weeds since we put it in.

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

I can't wait to see more pictures Frannie. That pink one is so special. Look at all that pink. Are you going to name it, you should!! Maybe put it on ebay to be named. A gorgeous pink like that would be a winner. LOL

Your Dad's brug is so floriferous. You must smile every time you look at it!

Greensburg, IN(Zone 6a)

BrugNanny that is beautifull, now if I had a man in my life I would move to a place where my yard could look like that all year, definately no snow.

San Jose, CA(Zone 9a)

I would give anything to have something like that in my back yard, but with three acres it would be hard to figure out how to stop it. Would have to build fences or something for a stopping point. I just love Frannie's back yard.

Herbstein, Germany(Zone 5a)

Beautiful picture Frannie. I like the look of your backyard.

Finally, I am able to take time and post some more pictures so that everyone can see the actual layout better. I spent time last night looking for pictures. A few of them are pictures of a picture because I no longer have them on my computer.

This first picture shows the drawing of the layout.
