Altho we have quite a ways to go, I thought I would share our progress with you.
For those who don't know me, my hubby and I bought a 38 acre junk yard smack in the middle of the Everglades last July.
It took all of our savings (plus 2 mortgages now) so all we have is our muscle for cleanup and scrap metal people.
The hard part is where do you start? Well, we needed shelter so we are tearing uo the trailer that's there-(has AC and water) to make it habitable.
My first thought is to get in a few shade trees near the trauler so they can be growing while we keep cleaning. Of course the trees went into shock and we hope with pampering they will be OK.
We can't sell our home here unless we get our 5 dogs and 10 cats living at the farm. That's a tuffy because we don't have any fences and can't put any up until we finish disassembling the junked trailers that are in the way. You have to bust thru coral rock to even put in a fence post so my husband refuses to build a temporary fence because he doesn't want to do it twice. If the dogs wouldn't keep going to the neighbors, I wouldn't mind but one of them already killed the neighbors rooster so I have to watch them carefully. That same dog loves to swim and the pond up front is full of alligators.
This week I am going out there Wednesday (tomorrow) and staying until Sunday. My husband will be out Saturday after work. This is a trial run to see if I can manage on my own.
I work on a computer so that part is easy. I should get some good work time in since I am not cooking for the hubby!
Also I have everything that I have propagated for the past few years over there so I need to go there in the middle of the week anyway to water. I might as well stay there!
