I had never heard of this plant until I ran across it today. The stems grow out of the bean, really kewl plant.

Lucky Bean Plant
Anything on the tag? Like...anything....to get a hint of the Botanical Name? Cool looking plant, tho. -
Aloha
Castanospermum australe would be its Botanical Name. I just did a google search and came up with some info.
Blessings,
Awanda
AH - thought it looked "chestnut-ish"...very attractive foliage...
I got mine about a year ago. The 'beans' that the stalks grew from eventually 'fell off' the stalks, but it's still a cool plant.
I put mine outdoors for the summer, but it seems to do just as well indoors.
I have my doubts, but hope mine will flower someday!!

Nan it's good to hear yours is doing well. I've had people tell how picky and difficult it is to grow.
Blessings,
Awanda
When the "beans" split and fall off, do they contain seeds?
Nope, Sequee, the beans *were* the seeds that the plants sprouted from.
Oh, I see! The bean is the pod - the sprout shoots up and the pods falls away! How cute! I've never heard of that before. Do they flower?
