Ursula - I'm looking at the seeds you sent me and have a question. They are way to cold for my zone outside. Do you think I could plant them in a pot, bury the pot and then take it inside in the fall? Should I let them go dormant, like gladiola corms? LMK what you think. I'd love to get this blooming - those bells are so pretty!

Laura, did you take the zone information from our Plant Files? If so, this is incomplete because I was only able to indicate in which zones they grow here, I have no info for other countries, sorry. They might be hardier, but I don't know.

I think your idea is very good. Here they bloom during spring (little rain) and die back after producing seeds. Our summers are very dry; usually there is no rainfall at all, although this year we had it twice and for two days each time.

Good luck!

Okay, thanks, I'll have to do a little digging and if I can't find any other info, just try it. :) I'm researching the seeds you sent me and having a ball reading up about them all!! Can't thank you enough for the enjoyment they're giving me, and that's before I even plant any!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :) Laura

Laura, check the English OL seed companies. I am sure there is one that sells other Conanthera species and they all grow in very similar conditions and should be equally hardy.

Thank you for telling me how much you are enjoying your search; that was the idea!

Laura, it seems they are not hardy:

I think the method you proposed should work.

Thanks for the link, Ursula. I lost this thread and just found it again. I forgot which plant it was that I was looking at and after looking at a dozen more today, grrrrr...... So I went thru the PF Pictures forum til I found it. :) I printed that page and think I'll try those seeds soon.

Please let me know how they do.

Do my best to remember. Our frost date is May 15 so I don't want to start seeds too early as I don't have a greenhouse and limited lights. Planning on Mid march for sowing.
