Outlook Express problem

I hope someone has a bit of help for me. In my boonedocks area there are not many computer people who will come to ones house to help. I live 4 miles from town and have been having a lady in town come to help me with my problems when she can find time. Last Wed. Dec. 1 she came to help me with the CD burner that she installed in my new PC case, that she also put things from my old one into. She was here for some time and could not get the burner to put anything on the disks that my daughter bought for me, or the one I brought back from my daughters that she had put some good receipes on. I had not tried to do anything with it because didn't know how. The new disks that my daughter bought for me early last fall are Memorex CD-RW. She thought that because they are rewritable that might be the problem but i can't see anyway that would be a problem.

Anyway ever since she was here I try to get on internet through Outlook Express, will connect and almost immediately will disconnect , so I can't use OE, and that is where all my messages come. I did finally in the first couple of minutes receive 3 messages yesterday. To go to DG I have to use Internet EXplorer. How can one work and not the other. I called my ISP and left two voice mail messages, no response from Amerion, I left my tele. no. Anyway I have not been able to get the woman to come back up here as she is always very busy. I will try again the first of the week.
