This was one of Kell's seedlings. GL X LA I believe. Anyway, all of the buds pointed up as it grew and when it bloomed, the blooms remained pointing up. Unusual, but I wondered what would have happened had it rained........
All Buds Point Up
Brugie,
That is too cool..i like it!!
Whats the one behind it, to the right, with the long trendils?
They would choke to death??..just a guess..lol..mmm
Jen, I'm not really sure. This was my seedling bed. I could have been a Rosamond X RK seedling of Susie's that I did keep. I had a lot of seedlings in there and actually, almost every one of them were pretty enough to keep. I just couldn't. I ended up keeping five or six, probably.
Really different set , but I do like the flower shape.
I'd be worried over rain and 'gunk' settling in the bud , prolly mess up the blooms and pod setting ability. ?
That is strange for the blooms to be pointing up! Bet it catches a lot of insects that way!
See, there is always an exception to the rule
We keep telling people that brugs point down, dats face up.........
now you're confusing people
STOP IT!!!!LOL
I think there was another that faced up
Can't remember .......
CC, I try and I try and always, something messes things up. This is Kell's fault because she made me grow that seed. LOL!
I think Liz has one that looks up. I know whoever has it got an email from me telling them I'd give my first born for it. LOL!
Mama's been playing around. I like it.
OK
its all Kells fault!
Its definitely an interesting looking brug, and I love the shape, but I too bet she'd be a shredded mess in the rain...
sure there is not some Datura in there lol
Wow Brugie, I didn't know you had one that looked up! This could be a California brug, we get no rain from April to November.
I didn't think of that. I mentioned it to you at the time it was blooming. You just get too much mail. LOL! I'll save you a cutting next year. I let the plant go because, you know how I am for winter storage room.
How neat!
Oh I am not sure I want it. LOL. Well maybe.................................. we need to make it pink!
Burgie save one for me, its different. I can plant it next to a Datura, so it wont feel so bad. LOL
Brugie, I'd be happy to take a seed or cutting and see what would happen, here in Arky, when it rains!!! Also, if you have to let another one like that go, I'd be more than happy to take the poor baby in, LOL - but, I MEAN IT!!!!
There is nothing left to give away. The plant is gone except for the cutting I held over for next year. Sorry. If it does okay next year, I'll sure share. Will probably name it something like "Head's Up". LOL!
I still like the looks of it. Will be interesting to see what it does next year.
WOW - that is definitely "odd"!!!! It's pretty though! My only concern would be if it drowned when it rained, like a turkey.
Love your brug facing the sky. Is it fragrant?
Maybe it is geographically/gravity challenged.
Shinny, I don't know. I couldn't get my nose up there to smell it. LOL! It was pretty tall as were a lot of my seedlings.
Where's the ladder when you need one? LOL
Couldn't get me on it anyway. I'd probably drag the brug down and break it off as I was falling. LOL! Never could stand heights.
This is such a beauty.
I'm with you, Shirley. I like my feet firmly on the ground. LOL
I'm so afraid of height that I get dizzy just thinking about it...especially thinking of walking near the edge. I hate those elevators that are all glass, I have to stand facing the door and i never look down...
I like it pointing up i would keep it on front poorch and rain would not upset it .
That would help. Wish I had a porch Pat, and that is where I'd grow it. The best I could do is under a tree.
I like it!
So, does anyone have any idea why this happened? GL and LA don't stand at attention like that.
Like I told you before! I think it is gravity & geographically challenged, lol! Sure is pretty though!
Its soooo confused!
