My Old Computer Died !!!!!

Hammonton, NJ(Zone 6b)

My old computer, which had Windows '98, has gone bye-bye. The power supply died. So rather than spending money to try and fix it....I bought a brand new Dell Dimension 3000 Series, MS Windows XP Home, 40GB Ultra ATA/100 Hard Drive. I've had it for about a month now, and am still in the proccess of getting used to it. It's like jumping from an old "fliver - model T" to a brand new, modern Cadillac !!!! (The old one was purchased from a home-shopping show, and not of a well known brand.)

My question is.....the hard drive in the old machine. It has a lot of information on it that I want to keep and be able to view. Is there an external device that I could buy and hook up to my new machine and run the old HD? I don't actually want to install the info. onto my new HD, but would like to be able to read what is on it. I thought that I was backing up with floppy disks, but my new Windows XP won't read Windows 6.0 files.

Is there a solution??? Perhaps there is a thread on DG where something like this has already been discussed.

Any advice....or suggestions?
