I came across the Variegated Foliage Nursery on the web and was amazed at their variegated plants. They don't ship plants outside of the USA, so that counts me out! So, is there a good online SEED source for variegated plants?
Many thanks
Sue
Variegated Foliage Seeds?
prudence, You may already know this, but variegated plants often don't come back true from seed. For those you'd need plants rather than seeds. Some variegated plant seeds are offered, but only an occasional seedling will be variegated. On the other hand, there are a few I have grown that seem to come back consistantly variegated. For example, Splash of Cream nicandra, Alaska nasturtium, and Woodside columbine. These are available in most of the garden catalogs. Here are some examples in the PDB. There are links for sources at the tops of the pages:

I am sure there are many more, but these are ones that come to mind and grow here from seed.
Thank you Weezin' for your reply. I do realise that getting a variegated plant from seed is hit and miss but am willing to take a chance (makes it more exciting!) I am more into perennials and the Variegated Foliage Nursery really opened my eyes to variegated plants I didn't know existed. Maybe I'll have to make a list and see if various seed companies do the odd one or two.
Many thanks
Sue
I like variegated plants, too. I grow quite a few of them, but I imagine they are quite different types than grow in your zoning.
Yes there are and that's what's so frustrating! Oh to be given half a chance to get my hands on some seeds!
Sue
I have Splash of Cream nicandra and some Alaska nasturtium seed, if that would help.
Thank you so much for your offer, but please don't feel offended if I say no. I have a list as long as my arm of seeds to be sown this winter, and really the only annuals I sow are Cosmos, the rest are shrubs or HPs. Thank you for your kind offer Weezin'.

No problem, Prudence... I'd rather have you tell me you don't need them than to send you something you don't need. Ah, I see now that you have stated you are outside the U.S. I saw the zone 8, by your name and missed the reference in your post. In what country do you garden?
I'm in the Republic of Ireland in a very rural location. Can't really get the plants I want here, so I tend to grow my own from seed. This last year has been a real learning curve for me, what with joining Dave's and learning so much about plants. Also, sowing seeds, which I did seriously for the first time last winter and find it very good in combating my winter blues. I am just so nutty about plants and the internet has made it possible to get most seeds for anywhere in the world. Unfortunately, I don't have the same choice where plants are concerned, what with the shipping regs. but I really love growing from seed. My only hurdle is trying to get a place that sells variegated seeds! I can't describe how much pleasure I got last year from sowing and growing my own plants and I am so excited for spring just to see everything get bigger and flower!
Do you sow a lot of seeds?
Prudence, don't lose that enthusiasm! There are many plants available to you by English catalogs. Check out Chilterns. They have many, viariegated varieties available.
